Hi im_dave, when you ask, make sure they include all other bits like adapter retainers, inlet brackets and inserts, all required clips and door trims. Otherwise it will be a few hundred dollars to get those. Good luck and let us know how you go.

Don't bother with that eBay bloke, sure he will ship stuff overseas but not with the aero kit..

He's willing to wait for your courier to pick them up and that's about it. I've exhausted pretty much every avenue to get a complete kit but it won't happen. On the other hand, if you guys can all chip in to pay for my airfare to the UK to sort it out, that will happen

Damnit you're right! He said we could organise a courier by ourselves.

Hmm... I'm waiting on the dimensions of the boxes and maybe I can try and get courier/shipping quotes.

FYI, I have asked Outmotoring re the dimension of the JCW side skirt box and here is the reply:

"I don't have the boxes here but they are most likely in the 70" x 18" x 20" and if I recall I am pretty sure that would be two boxes taped together as each one contains a set of side skirts...I would need to confirm dimensions once you get closer to purchasing.

Best regards,

Aaron Cornaby : Head Motorer

"

Also, his estimate cost of shipping via UPS dimensional weight calculation is nearly US $650.00. Hope this helps.

Hmmm, from my experience with outmotoring, that's probably about $400 worth of shipping and an extra $250 for Aaron's pocket. That guy seems to tell porkies about the shipping costs so he can make extra money himself.

To be fair, in the other part of the email which I did not include, he noted that the shipping cost was high via UPS and was kind enough to suggest that I find a freight forwarder myself to save cost (which Outmotoring will ship to). I have had quite a few dealings with Outmotoring and I find them to be very reasonable and very fast with delivery. I am only trying to help out with the measurements.

Yeah, I'm just bitter and twisted after some previous dealings with Outmotoring. Charged me a fortune for shipping and then when I recieved the goods I saw the real postage price on the outside of the box. He made an extra $100 out of me over the shipping costs. Maybe he doesn't do that anymore ... but he did it to me, so I take every oportunity to tell others of my experience. That's how business works I reckon - if you want to risk your reputation to try and make some extra bucks, you do so at your own risk

This has happened to me a few times on ebay. The *******s don't even think to at least stick the postage they charged on to the parcel to at least look legit.

Poor form.

Back to the topic... no news yet re. the shipping details.

I'm beginning to think that buying it locally (despite the price hike) may be the most viable option. At least there's no potential for things to go pear shaped during transit.

The side skirts can definitely be shipped less than $300USD. The box dimension is approximately <180cm x 20cm x 20cm (for the R53's) and if you can convince the seller to stick both of them in the same box (Morristown MINI said this can be done when I called them) then it will be cheap to ship.

Most sellers just like to pluck a magic number to get rid of you without sounding too nasty and if you don't mind getting ripped then more profit for them.

At least for the R53, the current exchange rate makes it a stupid case in bringing one over. $400 for the side skirts, ~$300 for freight and divided by 0.78, it's almost a grand and cost even more than sourcing them through your $tealer.

I haven't yet but my mate passed me the link. Sounds very legit and professional. I am tied up with exams for another couple of weeks. Will seriously look into it after that.
