Yeah you can do that, but it's not cheap as the body shop will have to spend a fair bit of time filling and sanding the original ones before painting them. If you buy the JCW ones they come pre-rimed, so the paint shop just has to take them out of the box and spray them. Hence you may find it only costs a little more to go the JCW route.

The other problem with the original skirts is knowing where to start and stop the colour so they match in with the rest of the black wheel arches. This isn't the case with the JCW ones as they are moulded so that they will match in with the black wheel arches - hard to explain, but if you look at the JCW skirts you will see what I mean.

5ambo, I ended up sourcing the JCW side shirts as parts from BMW here. Got too hard and expensive to get them from overseas.

Adding to what Quickbrick said, each JCW side shirt is made up of two parts, the insert is pre-primed and you get them painted to match the body colour. The outer piece is the crinkled black plastic that matches the black wheel arches.

Time to look into it a bit further... and after the suspension change I thought I wasnt going to change anything for a while

Quickbrick - I found out off Steve earlier tonight that he is going down that path... Not sure if I want to do it anymore (Although he is looking at the whole JCW kit), whereas I am just looking at the side skirts.
