| It's a bit less clear on the R56 as it tells you what needs to be serviced when - so you don't get a whole log book service all at one go. It's meant to reduce servicing costs, and it probably does, although it might mean more visits. I just had mine in for its second service today, and the costs for the same items look comparable to yours. - Oil filter $22.99 - Washer additive $2.74 The killer was $127.80 for the replacement oil - which is probably about right these days! The only labour was oil change and general inspection for $188, which I thought was OK. I had a BMW 118 loan car, which was interesting (they've got rid of their Cooper S loaner - rats!), the service was top notch and I was given a discount as a clubMINI member. Happy all round. My first R56 service (12 months, not per the OBC) was as follows:

It might not be a whole, huge inspection. The computer display can tell you what needs to be done at the next inspection. If you hit button on the end of the indicator stalk 4 times (I think it's 4), it shows "Service Info". Now hold the button in and it shows you another layer of menus. Then, if you're like me, you just do trial-&-error to get to where it shows you how many kms until the engine oil needs changing, then the brakes, then other stuff. Sorry - that's not all that helpful is it?! But maybe you sort of get the idea. The manual tries to explain it, but I don't think it does a much better job either! ![]() (At least, this applies if it's an R56, which is the latest MINI - not the R53 which looks the same but is the older one )If that's all totally useless, post a reply and I'll go to my car and step through it and describe it better. ![]() pw4

Sorry, no idea - I just dropped it in for the day and paid a bit extra for a loan car. First time, the loaner was a Cooper S (rats! I knew if I drove one I'd want the turbo!) and the last time was a BMW 1-series (reminded me how special a MINI is). ![]() pw4

Hi, I was wondering if I need an Inspection II for my 2004 R50. Had an Inspection I at 16,000km in July 2007 and it now reads 25,000km. Don’t drive much and am trying to avoid spending $800+. Any advice? And jazzaj2003, what was your experience with Peter Mabey? Thanks!

Kelyoung, your mini would proble be due a insp 1, it is basicaly a jazzed up name for a oil service, they would do; oil and filter and A/C micro filter, check over and levels and pressures.

mines due for an inspection 2 since its boarding on 70,000 k's, buy its really not necessary . The plugs were done at 45000 k's when i had the pulley done, the belt was done at 50000 k's when the old one was chewed up due to a seized AC pulley, the coolant was flushed at 50,000k's when they replaced parts in the cooling system (corroded) the Aircon micro filter is pretty pointless unless it starts to smell, nothing some glen 20 cant fix. so all i really need is my oil done which i could do myself but im lazy so .... PUTSY CHANGE MY OIL ! 05 Cooper S
