The motors haven't changed much in Aus. They are:
Cooper - All but the R56 (Jul07 onwards) - 1.6l naturally aspirated
Cooper S - All but the R56 (Jul07 onwards) - 1.6l supercharged
Cooper - R56 (Jul07 onwards) - 1.6l naturally aspirated (new motor)
Cooper S - R56 (Jul07 onwards) - 1.6l turbo
There is probably something in the VIN that will tell you for sure. You may want to check out some under bonnet pics from an online cr sales website to get an idea of the difference between the way they look.
The hard part are all the optional extras between the cars. And there is no way of predicting what you're gonna find out there! The Park Lane came with a host of accessories that were either optional or not available on other models, but the engine, drivetrain etc were the same.
As dsakko said. So you will have two options:
Cooper (R50) is the type without a bonnet scoop is a 4 cylinder, 1.6l naturally aspirated engine
Cooper S (R53) is the type with a bonnet scoop is a 4 cylinder, 1.6l supercharged engine
The park lane coopers ended production in 2006 with the gen 1 minis.
