Victorian after purchase help '05 S with JWC kit.

Hi everyone,

my first post here but I am a well weathered forum time waster!

I'm about to have the car below tested before, is there anything in particular I should get checked? I don't really like the interior but I think if I colour the dash & door bezels etc anthracite it should look pretty good, I'm not a fan of the woodgrain, would look good in a black interior car but not with tan, if anyone likes the 'heritage kit' and wants to swap...

Am I making the right decision on this car? I'm in Melb and haven't seen it, the guy is not budging on price either...

Having a comprehensive RACQ test done on it tomorrow.

Should I just spring for an R56? decisions decisions!

Any feedback would be awesome.

edit, I can't post a url dammit, if you search 'MY04 JCW Cooper S Chilli' it is the only match. It's actually an MY05 anyway...

You probably can not post a URL as you are a first time poster, you need to post a few times to be able to do that.

I cant find pictures of the car either. Where are you searching?

Personally I wouldn't be buying site unseen, or even noise unheard.....and secondly I don't like the interior, but each to their own. The door cards are hard and expensive to change here, if you did want to change.

Power Steering Pumps, Clutches, that sort of thing.....but tbh it does look like a good price for a well specced car.

There would be a fairly big leap to get that spec R56 and then you would get an early one.....An 05 is the facelift so there shouldn't be much wrong with it. I would get the cheap flights and check it before splashing out though!

Are door cards those round things? Are they that hard to remove, I have a mate with a body shop so spraying wont be an issue...

I think if I change it to look like this it would look ok....

Yeah the whole thing including the cream bit is the card, the oval is very hard to replace without breaking it apparently. It is easier to get a new door card, but that is easier said than done here!

Have to agree with everyone about the interior - I would not even consider that car based on the interior alone. You may be able to re-spray the dash etc but re-trimming the seats; replacing door cards etc is going to cost you a few grand.

To think that this guy is firm on that price is optimistic on his part too (Escpecially considering the interior). If people want to spec ugly interiors on their car they should at least pay the price for it on re-sale I think

Sold my 05 JCW about 18 months ago now. It was dark silver but with the normal grey leather interior. Mine had 40k on the clock, full JCW kit plus JCW suspension and JCW brakes and I sold it for $32.5k Another Qld ClubMINI member sold his about 6 months after mine - 2004 Indie Blue, JCW engine kit, suspension and brakes, about 40k on the clock and sold for sub $30k from memory.
