I have an 08 MCS (12K kms done). I have read all the scary posts about the "Cold Start Rattle" and have been wishing 'not me, not me, not me'....But it happened.
It was there for just one morning and then didnt occur again (it has been a week now). But I am afraid this is part of the shirty nature of this fault..
I was wondering whether there's anything I can preempt. I live in Brisbane, so would appreciate any feedback re local dealers' who may have different approaches to this. Brisbane Mini Garage is where I am used to and has anyone had any experience trusting them with the Rattle problem?
Many Thanks,

Where did the rattle come from? Engine, suspension, dash etc etc?

I had the rattle, which the dealer replaced the cam chain tensioner after many phone calls of me telling them there is a problem and them saying its normal.

cheers mate, yes I have a collection of web pages to be printed, this seem to be the latest one thanks
hey is it the Bris Mini Garage? Hopefully I have a few manageable iterations doing this. And the prob is that I may have to wait until the prob resurfaces...
No it was motorline. My rattle used to happen pretty much everytime i started my Mini cold. You may have to be persistent to get it replace, i had to be but still took 7 months.

I see Motorline have not changed... I told the service manager to go have sex with himself in 2002 when I had my 1st MINI.
My MINI keeps telling me it needs it's first service, for a laugh I called Motorline... almost $200 for an inspection ie a quick look and the said it would need a wheel alignment at $190 ROTFL!
