So my MINI wouldn't start last night...

So last night I got in my car to drive to work and I went to turn it over and nothing.... it beeped at me and all the lights on my dash were coming up on me. I looked down at my temperature gauge, it was saying 0 and my kilometres to my current tank had been erased and so had the time.

So today my Dad (retired mechanic) came around and said what he suspected what is was last night over the phone... My battery had died!

So I got on the phone to Motorline to see if they had any batteries in stock for a 2005 Cooper Cabrio...the guy on the other end sounded as tho he didn't wanna be there and made me repeat what I wanted a few times... I'm pretty sure I was speaking in english ... anyway he came back with "Sorry we are out of stock, but we should be getting more in on Monday"....I can't wait that long without being able to drive my MINI due to work commitments, I mean who can!!

So I got on the phone to Brisbane MINI....least the guy there sounded a little bit more enthusiastic, even asked for the last 7 digits of my VIN # to double check that the battery he had in stock was what I needed. They had 3 in stock, so I made the drive and picked it up! $300 later I am now pleased that my car seems to be starting a hell of a lot better!!!

Just thought I would make a note of a price just so other Cabrio owners out there know what price they are up for if their battery decides to pack it in!

HAPPY MINI'N!

If the world didn't suck we'd all fall off!

300 bucks for a battery!!!!! You sure you couldn't get one at a local auto store? Ouch!

Glad you are back on the road though...

Yeah, you definitely got ripped Nic!!! Even my mate that works at BMW told me not to buy one from them!!! I went to a local shop and got a better quality battery for about a 3rd of the cost. They are a different style battery as well and this is also why they are a little more expensive than your average car battery.

The big thing is that they have a vent on them since they sit in the boot. However, I have been running a ventless one that I bought in Germany for a good 3 years now with no problems.

just had to replace my battery in my 06 Cooper Park Lane. BMW wanted to charge $475 to replace it. Called Battery world and for the pricely sum of $169 all was good again

Much happier with that. Oh by the way the tell tales signs were that the tacho, temp guage and fuel guage in the centre console would flicker badly on start up. Apparently common fault, and the next fault to show is the CVT going into limp mode.

Now I know the first signs wont have to worry about limp mode. And I am not talking a pill that starts with V!

Sounds like how mine was acting before the battery died!
