Question 2010 R56 Cooper Audio Upgrade

Hello Everyone,

I took delivery of a Mini Cooper R56 early May.

Looking around for suggestions on upgrading the Audio system.

Please advice if anyone know of a reliable Mini Cooper Audio Specialist around Melbourne.

Thanks and Regards.

SB

Congrats and welcome!

Which stereo option does your Cooper have?

I upgraded mine last year. Albeit a bit over the top for most people, but boy does it sound good. Not many people specialize in Mini's directly, but if you manage to get your hands on the Bentley Book (mini service manual) and lend it to whoever does the install, it will be of huge help to them.

I will try to locate the Mini Service Manual - thanks for the heads-up

This is what the 02-06 one looks like. Not sure if there is one out for the new model, but I presume there would be.

No worries. Any form of wiring diagrams would help the installer. When I dropped mine off they loved the fact they had the wiring diagrams all there. Saved the people doing the install the task of having to search for them.

FWIW I bought my Amp from JB HiFi who also arranged installation from a company with national coverage. The installers who did my job were already familiar with MINI's ICE set-up.

I'm sure you would have a similar experience in Melbourne

You can always check out NewMINIStuff.com This is an english company and all they deal with really is Mini cooper audio systems from steering wheel controls to aftermarket Harnesses that plug straight into the Car harness. I used them and I highly recommend them. Makes putting in an Aftermarket stereo or adding onto your stock one real easy.

yes i did come across that website in the past - i didn't want to open up any consoles and i heard / read that it interferes with the factory warranty - hence decided on getting some advice before proceeding

Once you stick your hands in there and start doing stuff you void the warranty anyway, unless the dealer is nice or having a good day when you take it in.

I don't know if any one has tried to request the BMW Service Personal to help with the upgrade?
