Mike, I shouldn't divulge my sources, but it's all from BMW's marketing group.

Here's some more info, but it doesn't look like the roadshow will make it across the Nullabour. Pity, that. Can you make it to Adelaide? What is it, 3500km? I'm only joking.

12. Classless appeal continues

MINI's appeal to all ages and types of drivers continues. The MINI Roadshow comprising five cars zooming around chic city centre locations in Brisbane and Sydney has drawn massive crowds of enthusiastic voyeurs from a broad cross-section of society each time the cars stop. Double-parked in Paddington's Oxford Street, the MINIs even charmed the notorious grey ghosts while admirers examined the cars. Bondi residents were cheered to see the five-car formation running rings round the roundabout on the beachfront. The MINI Roadshow rolls into Melbourne (this week), and then zoots off to Adelaide.

Thanks for the info Eltel. Too bad I didn't see the messages earlier, could have caught up with them in the Eastern suburbs! I am a little busy this weekend unfortunately.

I think the time is about right for me to post a message on our inaugural MINI drive day. See the other tread in this section.

Thanks ElTel, I am taking the Cooper to the dealer on Monday for a new stoplight so I will see if they have any info. You are right Adelaide is just a bit far for a day out.

Yeh, Tim, I think that they were going to cruise that part of town.

Spazz and I caught up with them on Sunday at Albert Park, doing a lap of the F1 track. We (Spazz and I) then went down to Station Pier to wait for them. They turned up at 12 noon and parked a little away from where we had parked. Strangely enough even though there were five of them, and some good looking sheilas in tight MINI Tshirts, they didn't get much attention. Spazz and I saw 5 times as many people checking out our cars, compared to the official Roadshow.

Anyhow, Shawn Ticehurst (MINI Brand Manager - very high up the tree) and his lovely female friend turned up to make sure that all was in order. After a while he came to speak to Spazz and me, and thanked us for coming along.

To show us his gratitude for promoting MINI he has arranged for Spazz and I and our partners to attend next year's F1 in Melbourne as guests of BMW. How's that for just being there flag-waving?

Actually, I made that bit up. Shawn was happy to see us but we still had to buy our own coffees.

So Spazz and I beat them down to Williamstown (sort of) and saw them stopping for more coffee. So we slipped past them and parked outside of some of the busiest cafes and got lots of good long looks. I'm sure some of the people were checking out the cars, too !!!

These cars are real attention grabbers, I kid you not. I had a fantastic day, there is nothing like being part of a MINI convoy.

I think that they will still be cruising around Melbourne till late tomorrow. Sorry, I don't have any times or places to catch up with them.

Regards, ElTel (roving reporter)
