NEWS/EVENT: clubMINI 2012 – Celebrating 10 Years of MINI in Australia.
MINI was officially launched in Australia in March 2002.
To celebrate Melbourne Cup Weekend will see a hoard of MINI’s descending on Adelaide.
MINI’s from across the country will be gathering at the National Motor Museum, Birdwood, on Saturday November 3rd. Other activities will be held over the weekend, with a grand departure on Cup Day!
You may have heard that 2012 is 10 years since the MINI came to Australia. Well we at clubMINI think this is worth celebrating and so we are holding a fantastic event in South Australia.
The event will take place over the Melbourne Cup Weekend in Nov. There will be MINI’s coming from all over the country for a weekend of MINI fun.
This will be an event not to be missed as we want to see as many MINI’s there as possible! So get planning now.
ClubMINI Vic will be leaving on Thursday Nov 1st and will be returning on Tuesday Nov 6th (Cup Day). We will be meeting up with the NSW/ACT/QLD clubs to drive across to South Australia.
The actual MINI AUnited will be taking place on the 3rd Nov (Sat) with an event held at the National Motor Museum Birdwood. National Motor Museum
At this moment we are looking for expressions of interest with confirmation required around May. The registration form is attached.
We will be keeping you up to date with the schedule of events as it becomes available.
Ok Australia is a big country why hold an event like this at the far end of it?
A more central location would have seen better participation. So basically you see a few from NSW more from Victoria lots from SA and bugger all from Queensland or anywhere else.
Actually it was decided by all the clubs. We have numerous people coming from WA which is just as far as QLD. Every one has to travel for an event like this. Sorry it is too far for you but that doesn't mean it is for everyone.
You will always get people who have the time and will to travel great distances to events like this. But you have to wonder how many more would have attended if it was held in a more realistic location.
And when you say the Clubs decided... Who in the Clubs actually made the choices? The first I heard about this was at QLD Clubmini run on the weekend.
I am sorry that you feel this way, but what would you call a realistic location?
Unfortunately Australia is a big place and this was never ever going to be easy, but at some point a decision has to be made.
I am sorry that you won't be able to make it.
We hope that this won't be the only event like this we hold and intend to grow it in the future. Unfortunately we have to work with the resources we have.
So this year it is Adelaide next year who knows.......
Rather than dag us for holding it in the wrong place why not support us for holding it at all....
You would have only heard of it at the weekend as it has only been finalised in recent weeks.
I don't mean to bag it. I think its great that its happening.
But...
I am a member of ClubMini QLD... I would have thought a event of this nature would have been communicated to the various Clubs and Mini communities so that "The People" could have been involved in the choice of venue.
This would have shown the people organising this event where the bulk of the people would be coming from and to set a venue that was the most central to those who were coming.
Ian, I understand where you are coming from, but this year we just didn't have the time to do that. If you are used to organising events you will quickly find that it is very difficult to get decisions made like that. We had to make a choice and this is it. We are also using this to promote clubMINI in SA as there is currently not an official club there.
Hopefully next year we will have a similar event in ACT, as this would be the ideal location, but no matter where it is there are going to be people at a disadvantage, and then after you have decided a location, it then needs to be a time that suits people.
clubMINI is trying to move to a more nationally orientated club rather than the way it has been up until recently, which is 4 clubs who have the same name. This process has only just started in the last 6 months as we look to grow the club. If you want to more involved in these choices then talk to Julie about getting on the national discussions.
We are trying to make clubMINI better for everyone and this is just one small step on that road.
