Australia Best tyres for WA?

Hello

My mini is due for a new set of tyres and after a bit of reading I have decided to get rid of the run flats. So I am looking for new tyres for my R56 JCW with 17inch rims. I mainly drive around Perth and do about four country trips a year.

What are people driving on these days in Perth and enjoying? My local tyre man has suggested Toyos. Has anyone had experience with Toyos?

I am interested to hear peoples thoughts and experiences?

Thanks

Toyo Teo are a good tyre. Ran them on my 2002 Cooper, and the wider Teo Pluos on my Z3. Good grip, good economy, quiet, and awesome life. Did over 40k on them and never wore them out.

Paul from Tyrepower Willeton recommendeded Toyo T1R to me last year. They have been very good; they also look great.

Prior the the Toyos I've used Dunlop SP Sport Maxx from Kosteras, they were good tyres too but looked somewhat ordinary.

If you're interested in dealing with Tyrepower you could mention Dave Elliott from the Mini Car Club to Paul Bevis...he might look after you.

Cheers,

Dave

Hello dsakko and Dave

Thanks for your thoughts. I been reading a lot of forums and the Toyos seem to have a good reputation and are well regarded by everyone. I had a look on the Toyo web site the latest Toyo tyres in in Australia in my size are a Proxes4 and a Teo Plus. They both look like good tyres. I am guessing the Proxes4 are a newer version of the T1R.

Dave how noisy did you find them? Where they quieter than the run flats?

I spoke to a tyre man last week and he said the more aggressive the tread pattern the noisier the tyre.

Cheers

Joe

Anything with a v shaped tread pattern is gonna be noisy. Moves water well, but also pumps air in the dry

Tyres with 3 or 4 grooves around the circumference won't move as much water in the wet, but are the quietest in the dry and often they have lower rolling resistance.

Hi

Just quick update on the tyres. I went for the Toyo Teo Plus tyres and they are great. Nice and quiet and plenty of grip.

Thanks for your help guys.

Cheers

Joe
