Offline | No, brisbanites can make thier own arrangments togther if they want to travel as groups. I have not set any times yet as a few of us are doing a "dry" run to test times so I can make it fair on everyone. We have heaps of time, don't worry, the week before the run I should have 1. Depart times 2. Speed camera locations( fixed in NSW) 3. detailed maps of the towns, and picnic area 4. full road directions. I have these now but will hand them out on the day instead. they are EXTREMELY detailed telling you every turn off and distances between. Thanks everyone for your support I hope to make this great for everyone. So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers" |

| MINI2 Senior | Well what a great run we had with the Mini Owner's Club of Queensland today. Four of us new MINI owners headed down to the Gold Coast Hinterland for a wine and BBQ run. Everyone treated us well and I think many showed just as much interest in our MINIs as we did theirs. I was lucky enough to be taken for a lap in a classic Cooper S while I let some of the classic drivers take my Cooper out for a spin. I'd also really like to thank John Hasselwood (spelling?) for welcoming us along. MOC club members also said they were keen to have us back in joint runs with whatever shape of new club takes. I can't wait to go on the next joint classic/new MINI run now. See below some piccies Cjay took. |

Offline | jasemini, you're correct about the 'bloody' bit, Steve was just picking up on another thread where the Yanks have substituted bloody for damn for the forthcoming remake of The Italian Job. But has anyone told you yet that 'supossed' is actually spelt 'supposed'? ![]() Regards, ElTel |

Offline | Doesn't surprise me at all. Some of the worst mangling of the English language comes from advertising copy, teachers and journalists. That's not to say that they're all bad, but our standards have slipped badly. Quite often I write to the CEO of major products to alert them to crappy copy or incorrect grammar in their ads, and the knock-on effect of having such pathetic ad agencies representing them. At least two companies modified their print ads. One of my biggest gripes is the continual misuse and confusion that surrounds the meaning and correct application of something as simple as its and it's. However I do not understand how anyone can go through secondary school and still use 'would of' instead of 'would have'. Yet it appears on this site with ridiculous frequency by both British and USA posters. Just shows that their teachers, if I can use that word loosely, probably did not know any better. Sad, really. Regards, ElTel |
