Offline | I am planning a run south this time, starting on the gold coast for a quick run through the happy morning streets of Surfers before heading down across the border and out through some lovely twisty scenery. Stoping for a picnic lunch, before returning through some more breathtaking landscape and arriving back on the gold coast late afternoon. For those keen enough I was thinking Dinner at the Grand Hotel (thats where we met for Boo's dinner last time for those who came down) I'm planning the run now and will be posting an itinery soon. It will be a slightly different format to other runs as I will print maps for everyone and you'll be invited to go at your own pace to meet us at the Picnic site, and back again. This will allow everyone to take time to enjoy the drive without feeling like they are holding up anyone or being held up( you leadfoots!) Also as discussed on the last run due to legal requirements I will be working with everyone to arrange our ideas about a club ( please discuss this in a seperate thread) This will indemnify us in case of an accident. I look forward to everyones input and another exciting Mini Cruise. Offline | Sounds good, the own pace thing is a good idea to do now and again, I like to drive fast when I'm on my own but my wife isn't too keen on the idea, perhaps our opinions on FAST differ somewhat. The maps and rally points are also good as it means people can join at anytime. Once again when considering my wife she wouldn't be up for a day that was as long as we had on Saturday so people who didn't want the long day could meet at any rally point along the way or the Picnic Spot and perhaps join the afternoon run(gee I'm making her sound like a wet blanket, she's really a lovely girl) Picnic Lunch or BBQ is good idea too. Any ideas on dates? What about March 1st or 2nd? 02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW. | MINI2 Senior | Looks like that'd be a full day too... judging by the distance brisbane - gold coast, it'd be at least 6 hours on the road at 100kph... Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what it looks like to me ![]() I'd like to see how my corolla stands up against both some of you, and the terrain, but I think we would get a butt-kicking. *sigh* I'll check my calendar! Offline | OHHH MY GOD, YOU"VE FOUND ME OUT....I'M IN LOVE WITH......... A MINI! I mentioned the southern run to her last night, she thought it was terribly long, but she'd think about it. I'll have to keep working on her, otherwise I'll have to find myself a MINI RUN surrogate wife Nothing against co-pilots like Callun and former Co-Pilot Chris but can't we find some that are a little prettier CooPz would back me up on that! You'll get to meet Mrs Jasemini soon, just as soon as I get her operational ah-ah-ah-ah (very lame attempt at evil human manufacturing type professor laugh) Cheers Jase ![]() 02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW. Offline | What about a simple run to Byron or something? Meet in Surfers first up then I'm sure you can find a twisty route to Byron Bay. If people want join in the the afternoon stage they can simply take the new highway from Bris to Byron and be there in 2 hours, vice versa if they need to be back in Brisbane by mid afternoon??? 02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW. Offline | One step ahead of you mate. Here is the new Brisbane to Byron, to Casino to Brisbane run. the short route is two hours down and two back following the same road(skipping byron) The main trip down the coast to Byron will take approx four hours then returning the short way two hours. How does this sound? So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers" |

| MINI2 Senior | So, if someone decides to go Brisbane - Casino - Brisbane, that's 4 hours return trip (not including time out for lunch) If they do the whole thing, it's 6 hours return trip (not including time out for lunch). Is dat right? Oh, and what wrote above says: "how about I give you some leetspeak" Jug |

Offline | oh I was close! yes thats the idea 2 hours or four hour first leg to Casino for a picnic lunch and photos, and a game of cricket, then we all go back via the 2 hour route. We'll meet on the gold coast for those on the long run so thats your first hour down, then some "sight seeing" on the beach side of surfers before heading down south. All times are for speed limit extremely safe driving. I am sure that since this is own pace event some people will end up with an hour to wander casino or answer questions from interested on lookers. I would love to BBQ but can't garuntee availability, so Picnic should be considered number one on the idea list, but by all means try to BBQ but have a backup plan. ![]() So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers" |

Offline | I'd like to lock in a time for this run so please reply with the date you'd prefer. It will make it easier for people to come if they know when to keep their calendar clear. So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers" |
