OK Well I was thinking of actually going along to a BMW track day and seeing how it went. The idea of being on the track with them and earning thier respect appeals to me. Considering we have so many people wanting to join at once we do have some clout. If we can all agree that is hehe.

I thought you'd be getting them up for the 1/4 mile at Willowbank

I agree with the whole earning respect on the track thing too.

Respect is what we all give other drivers, I don't see why so many small minded people don't give it back. For some, clubs are an elitist group where they can exercise a power they never earned in real life, when new blood comes in they resent the shift in the balance of power. Half the BS said by classic mini owners I feel stems from jealousy that they don't have one themselves.

I admit my patience wears thin sometimes as I am really interested in classic Minis and find them as exciting as my own baby. I don't expect others to love it, but respecting another persons wheels is something I my dad taught me, especially in Australia and apart from friendly ribbings I don't think disparaging someones, anyones car, is fair.

Something our club will have to avoid.

So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers"

But the simple fact is we have new MINI owners involved who've been all but shunned when the've attended Classic Mini clubs.

For god's sake, it was just a suggestion as they have been involved with Brisbane BMW. To make a parallel with George Bush is ridiculous.

Qld Mini Club

Hi guys, had a great time on Saturday's run, 12 Minis flowing through the mountains made an awesome sight.
This Club thing needs some serious discussion. The Qld Mini Car Club Inc welcomes ALL MINI OWNERS and BMW will give us all the support we may need. What about a meeting at Brisbane BMW in the near future to air the pros and cons?
It might keep the tyres rolling.

I think that is an excellent idea, once we have the verdict back from BMW.

club topic

Have spoken to Brisbane Mini Garage, they are prepared to support us 100% in our endeavour to get this club thing up and running. They will provide a venue for a meeting in the future to help us get it heading in the right direction.
For obvious reasons, they cannot form the club but will provide us the forum to be able to do it.
Once a time and date has been set, will keep you posted.
(Yes, you'll have plenty of time).

After chatting to Brisbane BMW's dealership Sales Manager on Tuesday last week and at risk of reapeating what I told many Pilots on Boo's run and in the forum, yes Brisbane BMW are willing to offer a venue, but Swamos is still waiting to hear about some form of other "support" from BMW Australia.

While this offer from Brisbane BMW is certainly generous and to take it one step further they've also said they didn't mind if we round-robined meetings between them and other dealerships (Motorline, etc).

However, I think it would be good to hang tight for another week until an answer is heard back from BMW Australia.

I have also submitted an article (on Brisbane BMW's request) to their in-house/customer newsletter regarding our little get togethers. Along with the article I have sent supporting photos kindly supplied by Cjay.

This newsletter is distributed to over 100 new Brisbane BMW MINI owners. Lets see where this goes.

I also think at the moment it's best for us to approach all BMW outlets with one united front and message as Swamos and I have over the past month. This way we are sending out the same message and limit the possibility of appearing unprepared for any serious backing.

Just a thought though.

For all of the Pilots interested and the formation of a new new MINI club, what do you all think of meeting at Vroom Cafe' in the Valley on Sunday morning at 9:30am?

This way we can get our stories straight and have a good breakfast all at the same time?

Have we got any indication yet from BMW australia as to what form this additional "support" will take? and will it differ at all from what we get from Brisbane BMW on thier own?

I am keen to do coffee and breakfast(my favourite meal of the day) but I am at a party saturday night in the city and have to drive all the way home in the wee hours, not sure I'll be sane to drive all the way back up that early... hey but who ever said Mini drivers were sane?

So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers"

Meeting at Brisbane BMW postponed

Good evening fellow Queensland MINI Pilots, just to let you know the meeting we had planned at Brisbane BMW for this for this Wednesday has been postponed until next Wednesday the 26th of February at 17:30.

It was postponed at my request to allow more input from national and local executives.

Hope to see you all there.

PS guys, if you could bandy together some options for a new club name it'd be great.

My ideas are below but I'd rather someone else take the responsability for a crappy name:

The New Cooper Club

The New MINI Club

Das Neo MINI Club (to use a German theme)

Neo MINI Club

Just some ideas and I Velcome yours.

MINI Enthusiasts club sounds good to me, cos I don't own a mini of any type, but I like em,

How about "Mini Enthusiasts Driving Club"?

It's not really up to me, cos I'm kinda an outsider in that regard
