| MINI2 Senior | I am not studying anything there now. I did Business Communications and Marketing there. I graduated Feb last year. Desperate to do may masters though. However, I think I'll do that at UQ 'cos they seem to have a better Journalism School there. Oh yes, and I want my work to pay for it. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Yep exactly. I think that we all have a fairly common opinion of what we'd like. From what Danny has told me Wednesday night will clarify via a ballot which way we go as far as NEW club or join one of the existing clubs. It will give us all a chance to meet in one place and form a common directive in which to approach BMW/MINI in the immediate future. We'll then all get one of them there BIG ASS KEBABS that Danny introduced us to at West End mmmmmm.02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW. | MINI2 Senior | Nope I have nothing else to add. I think it'll be short and sweet and one swift swoop. As for costs. CAMS affilliation for a club of less than 41 members: $440 per year (we could add to the cost if we get more members). This gives us $100,000,000 in liability insurance plus all CAMS benifits. Marque Club affiliation charges a flat $5 per member if we decide to go that way rather than CAMS. Looking at Marque, they would seem to suit our needs better because we're more social than competitive. But this could be sorted out. Incorporation fees $93.90 with a $33 per charge year for annual returns. As for a constitution. CAMS said we can adapt Fair Trading's free model constitution and change it at a later date if need be. I have been going through it and we could make a few changes but it's neither here nor there. I went into CAMS this afternoon and got all the low down and they said these are our only costs in total. So bugger all really for a fully incorporated and fully insured club. The only other thing we'd worry about is a newsletter. I wouldn't see this as a problem because I'm a journo, Cjay's a photographer, Simon's a graphic designer and Jasemini's an advertiser. All of the group seem to have email and could be distributed via email and PDF format. Any others who may join down the track without email could have their's printed out and mailed. After talking indepth with a few of the MOC club executives yesterday (nice guys by the way) they concured these would be our only start up charges. Please someone tell me if CAMS and the MOC are wrong. Other than that... Play Ball!!! ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | Not to say other people in our group couldn't do anything. We have IT people so I recon we could have the best website known to man! Something with a bit of Macromedia on it would be great!!! If and when the time comes we can chat about what each person can give back to the club. |

| MINI2 Senior | Okay, I'd put off making some kind of comment into this club, but I dunno. Though everyone's always accepted me really welcomingly, I sometimes think that it might be nice to not just have a club of owners, but also of enthusiasts. Maybe I'm just looking out for number 1 (me), but I would like to be affiliated with this club, don't wanna feel like an outsider because I don't own a mini, even though that probably wouldn't be the case... I guess it's not something HUGELY important, but I think it might just be important enough to mention. Cheers guys, Jug |

| MINI Traitor | Jug, there are two basic streams of car clubs, car/marque oriented ones, and general or sporting clubs. There are already a number of excellent general car clubs, such as the Brisbane Sporting Car Club. While I understand your idea, I tend to think we've got our work cut out for us as it is, just making a MINI club. Just because you don't have a MINI at the moment doesn't mean you would be precluded from participating (I would hope). You're still very young now, but in a couple of years time when you are earning $$ you might end up picking up a flogged Mini (such as Ausmini's )for as little as $15k. Then you will enter the realm of MINIdom. For now we can annoint you the clubs "Aspirational Member". ![]() |

Offline | a good point Jugman, I think some peoples spouses will want to join as well and so I can't see why we would limit who can join to who has a car, I think the Anti discrimination laws preclude us from being able to restrict on that basis anyway ( Studying my Anti discrimination laws heavily for my Real Estate Agent exams) So I says to the cops, I says, "nah mate, that wasn't my tyres screeching, that was my passengers" |

| MINI2 Senior | Well after much debate both on and offline, it was unanomously decided tonight with 10 MINI lovers/drivers present that Queensland will start the first MINI Club targeted directly at New MINIs. However, while Classic Minis won't be decriminated against, the club's primary focus will on the New version. Watch this space for more details. |
