Offline | Probably more likely to get BMW Dealer support for various events and activities as a 'chapter' of the BMW Club which has an established protocol locally and internationally. There would also be significant cost and time savings. Regards cityclinic |

Offline | Thanks for the welcome Boo. I had an opportunity to speak with a couple of marketing guys from BMW recently and it would seem there would probably be more support for a 'NEW MINI' chapter of the BMW Clubs than joining existing classic clubs. We would also be keen to participate and therefore may join depending what is proposed by chapter organisers. |

Offline | Welcome from the Victorian end of town, cityclinic. Very nice web site that you have too. When Boo first posted the small image of the car I thought it was a bit overdone for personal tastes, but your gallery shows it off nicely as a rolling billboard and I'm sure it works very well. I agree with you about BMW and their already established community of international BMW clubs. I've joined the Vic BMW club and there are now three or four of us MINIers and I can see the time coming soon where we'll have our own identity but still receive the benefits of BMW brotherhood. Regards, ElTel |

Offline | Thanks Boo and Eitel. We've had tremendous feed on the City Clinic Mini. No problem with posting the pics Boo. It was great to read the feedback from mini2 members. I've also had some interesting feedback from a friend at BMW re the proposed club/chapter this morning. We should discuss tomorrow night and reserve any decisions until we have a clear understanding of how we will achieve the greater support. Regards cityclinic |

Offline | The next BMW Club Victoria monthly meeting is being held on Monday 7th April at BMW Head Office in Mulgrave. I've spoken to a couple of committee members of the club and they are keen to have any number of MINIs as members. They've already added the MINI logo to the front page of their website. So, next Monday night there will be ratboy, ccsmini and myself and I'm hopeful that we'll get some answers from both the club and BMW about how we can move forward. |

| MINI Traitor | We are currently talking to Shawn Ticehurst (National MINI brand manager), and have put a proposal together to form a Queensland MINI club. We are currently waiting for his return from OS. It would be nice if we could co-ordinate all our efforts, and get a national association happening?? |

Offline | Definately the way to go swamos. I've a feeling the BMW guys want MINI to be completely independant from both a branding and marketing point of view. That would probably mean a totally independant Mini Club would get better support from Mini nationally. Anybody got a constitution we can use? |
|

| MINI Traitor | There are sample constitutions that you can use. Aussimini is doing that part of the setup. I will attempt to summons the Stripe Monster. "AussieMinni, I command you to come forth from the other world to the land of the checkless and stripless people... Chant Chat Chant......" |

| MINI2 Senior | Yes my Lord!!! If they want a constitution they just have to go to their state's consumer affairs govt website and their should be a link to incorporating a club. In Queensland it is in PDF format and here's the link to ours state's. http://www.consumer.qld.gov.au/OFT/o...ent&L 1=Forms |

Offline | Wait a minute, I'm confused. I'm hearing one say that BMW wants MINI as a separate club, and someone's going to get a proforma constitution, and then Guido (from BMW) says that this is the model that BMW will support? A separate club, not associated with BMW? What am I missing here? Regards, ElTel |

Offline | Reading between the lines BMW/MINI would prefer an entirely separate entity. That means we need to be thinking independant MINI Club and not as a chapter of BMW clubs. Means more work however it also means more support at dealer network level and corporately. |

Offline | I heard from David Atkins last night that the BMW people were going to talk to the Mini people ( ![]() ![]() ) about setting up chapters underneath the BMW Club structure. This was so they can utilise the already existing framework and corporate backing that the current clubs benefit from..I personally think that the QLD guys are doing a great job in setting up a stand alone group...Maybe we just have to see what the BMW people and the Mini people decide at the highest level and take it from there.. I don't mind either way, but i will stay with the BMW Club for the motorsport framework/events already in place and join the stand alone club also.. The original SWORKS |

Offline | I KNOW Guido is from MINI. I was in touch with him early in 2001 about MINI issues. However, there are differing views being touted in this thread. E.g you said, I got a call from Guido of Mini Australia today and he said that they have it on the adgenda to form a new mini club. Did he mean that MINI as a company, a brand of BMW, will assist in setting up a national or even international group of clubs with no affiliation to any other (BMW) clubs, then to find or solicit earnest people to form committees and direct current and future MINI owners to these clubs? Even though they already have an international and national organ via the BMW Clubs that are already established, well run, and could easily have a MINI register operating within the BMW club structure? Or will they assist in developing a MINI register within BMW Clubs? Then cityclinic said this I've a feeling the BMW guys want MINI to be completely independant from both a branding and marketing point of view. That would probably mean a totally independant Mini Club would get better support from Mini nationally. Then Boo said I heard from David Atkins last night that the BMW people were going to talk to the Mini people () about setting up chapters underneath the BMW Club structure. This was so they can utilise the already existing framework and corporate backing that the current clubs benefit from. That to me is confusing. I still find it amazing that BMW/MINI are so slow to provide someone to talk to about what sort of support this national group can expect. They've sold 2,000 of these cars, and had our undivided attention for the best part of two years. And left us in a no man's land as far as where we belong. Offline | I know its comfussing but my understanting is that Mini want a seperate identity with the support of Mini Australia and the dealers. I have also spoken to the BMW car club and they would like Mini owners to join there club. As Boo said they would like for us to set up a charter under the BMWcc the same as the 2002 & M series but it all depends on Numbers. DARK SILVER COOPER S |
