| MINI Traitor | Can I say that the BMW club up here met us with open arms too. As did the old MINI club. ![]() However, neither of those solutions are perfect for new MINI owners. They are not going to offer MINI only drives, MINI only events, etc. Anyway, that's all irrelevant, as it's not what MINI/BMW want. They have paid a vast amount of dollars to set up a seperate entity, and I think they are keen on the new MINI's having their own association. So, in QLD we have decided to set up our own club. We have a number of keen people that get on well, and don't mind doing the work. We can have the best of all worlds I think. We can get dedicated support from MINI, and have all our own events. We can also get access to certain events and stuff from our associations with the BMW and old mini clubs (both of whom have been keen to set up alliances in QLD). We would have loved to keep going on drives as just a little group, but in reality, it was too risky. Whoever starts a thread on MINI2 and organises a run is sticking their neck out. If someone has a prang, and hurts someone else, it is possible that one of the injured parties will look for somewhere to point the finger. Even defending yorself against one of those suits can cost you your house, even if you're not guilty. None of the new MINIers up here want to continue that way ![]() |

Offline | It is clear from the discussions held so far that BMW would prefer an independant entity for MINI Clubs. We are setting up a meeting with Mini Garage Sydney to discuss possible involvement in organising an independant Mini club in Sydney. Boo, it might be good if you could be available for that meet. Likely to be sometime next week. Post a yah or na if you can make it. We'll post minutes on the discussions following the meeting. Regards cityclinic |

Offline | Hi Steve, Will do forum - Mini CLub NSW. Hoping the meet next week is productive and look forward to posting details in new thread (as above). When and if we get under way we should look forward to forming relationships with other state Mini Clubs and in the long term a national body. However, as they say in the classics, lets sart with a crawl first. Best regards cityclinic |

Offline | Mini Club Hi I'm a member of the Mini owners club of Qld. I have seen the rules of the Brisbane Bmw Club. About the size of the Bible!! The Mini Owners club are great. They are having a major Mini Meet on the 8th June. last year couple of hundred mini's were there!! Heaven! There will be a class for the Bmw Mini's. (came 2nd last year). The club is also really cheap to be in with monthly runs. |

| MINI2 Senior | Hi Brett, A few of us Brisbane-based new MINI owners have been on a run with the MOC and met some great people. The run however, was not as we like to run ours. Not to say we didn't have a good time, but climbing the Gold Coast hinterlands at 20 to 30 k's an hour was a bit frustrating. We as the new "new" MINI club, aptly named clubMINI welcome Classic MINI owners along on any of our runs as John "Hess" has welcomed us to yours. The new MINI owners in the fledging club are dead keen to have involvment with the MOC on track days etc as well. John mentioned the MOC meet in Cleveland on the 8th and I am sure there will be a few of us that'll come on down for a look as we love the Classic MINI's as well. Can we "show" our MINIs as non members of the MOC? Danny |
