Offline | Bodykits Query Hi, I know I've only just placed the order for my Chilli Red S but before the specs are finalised with the factory I wanted to know if anyone out there has seen the bodykit that is available and if it is anygood? Is it the one that you see at http://www.minisportshop.com/Minispo...cts_314. html and are there any others available that you can recommend (any pics would be helpful). Thanks muchly Cheers, Lisa ![]() |

Offline | Hi, That's exactly why I was asking because I don't want to ruin the beautiful look but if there was a nice addition that made it look good without ruining it I would be interested in looking at it. Thanks for the feedback. Cheers Lisa ![]() |

Offline | Welcome Lisa As for the bodykit ... the link you provided is the OEM kit and while there are others available 3rd party the OEM kit is probably the best looking available at the moment ... it isn't exactly what I would call rice boy either The big point to note on the OEM body kit is that if you want it dealer fitted its gonna cost you big bucks ... I mean like thousands I asked exactly the same question 2 weeks ago when I ordered by MCS and I'm glad I was sitting down at the time ... I cannot remember the exact figure (think I was still in shock after being told the R90 alloys with rubber were $5.5K ) but it was at least $2K Cheers Steve |

Offline | Hi Steve, Thanks for the info. I expected it would be quite costly and I think for me, probably not worth the money but I thought asking the experts (other owners) would be where to find out about the best stuff on the market. I think it is my husband that wants me to do it up - it if looks good. It took me ages to come up with my options and you probably think I'm silly but I didn't go with the 17" wheels because (maybe it's a girl thing) I didn't like the look of the mags. However, I did have to have the driving lights, Harmon Kardon upgrade, PDC, rain sensor, multi function steering wheel, sunroof, climate control and of course bonnet stripes! I just thought if you are going to have a MINI then it's going to have every luxury I've ever wanted, plus (of course) exceptional looks! Cheers, Lisa ![]() |

Offline | Lisa Nice list of options very similar to my own except I went with Sat Nav instead of the PDC ... with that colour combination and the bonnet stripes I would really recommend having the alloys painted white as well ... looks great and is a no cost option Cheers Steve ![]() |

Offline | Also get DSC, didn't truly appreciate how good it was till i took my car on the track... I am a big fan now.. gives you an extra cushion when you are learning to push the car around a bit.... The original SWORKS |

Offline | I believe that the definition of DSC (which I have ordered too ) is the car pushing back! Not the other way around! If you want someone to tell you some really good stories about why DSC is worth the dollars, ask Tim, even the dealership was aware of his antics ![]() |

Offline | Gotta say from experience that dealer fitted wheels / tyres is not the way to go. I've got two sets for my Cooper. Looked at getting 17" R90s and got the same $5.5k quote, then ducked around the back to their spare parts section and priced up a set for $1600 plus about $800 for tyres from a local supplier. And you can't tell me that there's $3000 labour in fitting a set of wheels to a car! |

Offline | Interesting dsakko ... you saying the spare parts division of the same dealership offered R90s (without rubber) for only $1600? How long does it take to fit a set of wheels?!? That's a nice margin ![]() |

Offline | Yep. I believe it is due to the dealer quoting for a standard package rather than going to the effort of pricing it up from separate components. Theoretically the prices should be similar everywhere, although I did look into it about 9 months ago so could have changed since then. Similar to ordering a body kit from the dealer and just dropping off the car, versus having to buy the parts, then assembling it, then have it painted etc... |

Offline | Looks like I might change to DSC, if I can. I very seldom do any night driving so the cost of the Xenon isn't worth it for me, but thanks for the info. Cheers, Lisa ![]() Last edited by LisaR : Feb 12th, 2003 at 08:58 PM. |
