Need help from Aus Cooper Owners

Got a friend who is lookin at a whole range of new cars, mostly small hatches and the like but has his heart set on a cooper.. however cause of the price, hes lookin to get the best deal he can.. so i thought i'd ask here, if people could detail what they paid for thier cooper where from, what the onroad costs were etc etc.. and any idea what the wait time is on a custom spec cooper? he may well get a better deal on a cooper a dealer already has in stock, but i figure if hes gonna get a mini, he might as well get exactly what he wants

anyways thanks.. and hope this thread doesnt get moved to the generic cooper forum as i'm only interested in what aussies have 2 say on this

PS i personally HATE it when people ask me what i paid for my car and stuff.. so its a little hypocritical of me.. but im just trying 2 help a mate out who's still ummin' and arr'm

Sorry mate, but this forum has already been cluttered with non "Meeting" type threads.

You make a good point though, as I've been inclined to leave them here when Oz only related. I'll change your thread title to add "Australia".

I'll also leave the redirect here so at least it wll still get some exposure.

I'll edit the thread before I move it.

Cheers

Hey FliPSiDE..
from what i can gather, you will get a better deal with ones on the floor. I know from what swamos told me, there is a good priced yellow Cooper in Brisbane Mini Garage if it isn't too far

Mate, no one is paying full retain up here. They have cars lying around on the docks everywhere. There is a march build Cooper on the floor at the local dealer, and a June build S as well. If you are prepared to order from existing stock, you should be able to get at least $2k off retail. If you want your own spec, you'll have to pay full price.

The dealers seem to be putting cars on as demos so they can sell them with discounts. Not good for people like you and me who paid full whack for them. Thanks BMW

If they priced the range 5k cheaper to start with, none of this had to happen.

I bought my Liqud Yellow/Black Cooper at Brisbane BMW as a demo with 9,500k's on the clock and paid $28,777 on road after much negotiation.

The good thing about it was it had heaps of extras on it such as half leather seats, clear tailight package, interior illumination package, floor mats, and a couple of other things.

I say, shop around for a demo, look for the ones with a few more k's on the clock than usual, then barter like hell.
