Offline | Hi All Eltel, Ratboy and I went along to the BMW Vic Car Club meeting tonight. It was interesting to see the high level of support given to the club by BMW Group, to the extent that BMW are now offering to host all Australian Club websites. We spoke to Stewart Garmey about his view on the best way to establish a Victorian MINI Club. His suggestion pointed to creating a MINI Chapter/Register in BMW Car Club Vic, so that we could leverage from the BMW Club in areas such as driver training, trips, discounts, etc. Stewart made the offer of helping us with starting a Chapter/Register. I am sure that I have missed a few things, so I will let Eltel or Ratboy fill in the gaps. The question out of the meeting for us MINI Cooper / 'S' owners is that 'Is there enough support in Victoria to start a club of some form?". Secondly, "Should any MINI club be a Chapter/Register of the BMW Car Club Vic?" What I would like to propose is that we Victorians meet for a drink/dinner one night after Easter to discuss. |

Offline | Chris, thanks for posting the report on the meeting. Very nice to put a face to your names, both Dom and Chris. I certainly enjoyed meeting you, and I think that you'll find that all the other MINI owners are great guys and gals too. There's nothing like being inside BMW headquarters to make you realise that MINI owners are part of a serious and international group of sporting cars enthusiasts. The meeting was in BMW's National Training Facilities and it was very impressive. There were two BMW senior staff, John Kananghinis, GM Marketing, and John Harper, Head of Training, talking to us about BMW's local and international growth, and about how they take what they do very, very, very seriously. That was followed up with 'Star', one of the BMW FILMS films with Madonna being a real ***** and being taken for a wild ride in the back of an M5. Extremely exciting stuff. Get this download off the BMW Films site, and enjoy it. Stewart Garmey from the club has been elected as Chairman of the BMW Clubs Australia body and he has offered to talk to BMW about the interest that is out there for a MINI club. He left us in no doubt that MINIs are very welcomne in the club, especially when you see the MINI logo everywhere that you see the BMW logo inside BMW's HO. Stewart will talk to John K from BWM and get the ball rolling. As Chris mentioned, BMW are going to host all BMW club websites and this will take one decision and a major headache away from MINI clubbers, as having a good, and good looking, stable web site is important in order to gather numbers and move forward. BMW will ensure that all web sites are in line with their CI (Corporate Image), and capacity and content shouldn't ever be a problem. Thanks heaps BMW. Once Chris gets some feedback from BMW we may ask all Victorians to attend a meeting so that we can decide on what is happening and what people want to do. Regards, ElTel |

Offline | I'd definitely be in for being a member of a (new) Mini club. From my experience of clubs, unless someone is really prepared to run it almost full time they don't tend to exist for long, so I'd say keep it part of the BMW Vic club. |

Terry,Chris and myself are keen to get this on the way and are looking for the input of other Mini owners too get in and join us, wether it be with BMW Group Australia or not or on our own we need every Victorias input on this.
