Offline | Sounds like a great idea. If you are looking for a group to go for run, I am part of a group called ESCAPE that has just been associated for insurance purposes. If you are are after more than that, maybe a branch / sub group of the Vic Mini Club Inc. Also, Dom how did your exhaust go. ![]() |

Offline | I read on the Queensland thread that Tez and another mini driver went to a drive day with the Vic Mini Club and weren't made to feel welcome and they left half way thru the drive. But maybe we can look into it and see what they have to say about the new mini!!! But if you go on what The Queensland Thread is talking about we might be able to go the same way and be affiliated with them. This is still early days. re the exhaust at the moment I,m running custom made headers and stock system from the cat back it sounds throughty but I have to go back Monday for a dyno run to see if there is any change. Chris, hows the car going? DARK SILVER COOPER S |

Offline | Dom, the Cooper is doing great. We have done about 1800km in just under four weeks. My wife says that she thinks that she has seen your car in Greenborough? The reason I ask about the exhaust is that I am considering getting an exhaust shop make me up a cat back system. I have been using Unique Exhausts in Bayswater for cars in the past, so I think I will try them again. Chris |

Offline | I'd certainly support a local club, and wrote to BMW/MINI seeking their input and support, but have yet to hear anything from them except a 'got your email' response. Regards, ElTel |

| MINI2 Senior | Hi Guys, As you all know we have been getting a formal club sorted out slowly but progressively and hope to have things formalised before the end of next month (April). While there's a lot of work involved, the rewards will be abundant at the end of it all. After we have sorted out sponsorship, incorporation, CAMS affiliation and other items like dealer/supplier discounts we will be more than happy to share the experience with you guys and the mistakes/things we've learnt along the way. I cannot emphasise enough how imperative it is to have at least three or four hardworking people to push it along. Good people will make all the difference and we're very lucky up here to have plenty of people willing to pitch in. Maybe even once we've started us and you guys can look into a Victorian Club but maybe able to share future costs? These are many options to explore but again, if you guys need any advice/help, feel free to call me on 0416 175 062. If I don't know the answer we have a few other members who have vast experience in other clubs. Danny |

Offline | I'm not sure why there isn't an International MINI Club like the International BMW Club (International Council of BMW Clubs - "Your Gateway to a global network of BMW enthusiast organizations") This gateway at www.bmwclubs.org shows a formally constructed international club with strong ties to BMW AG that must be able to provide a vehicle for MINI enthusiasts. I'm annoyed and amazed the BMW have not come to the party and developed a plan for us MINI owners. There is no reason that there couldn't be a MINI Club structure that is international, with local chapters, similar to the BMW Clubs of Australia. Some people may see that having an independent MINI club would be more preferable to a BMW allied one. On the other hand, there may be advantages in the long run to having a MINI club that can draw on BMW for technical advice, product knowledge, etc. Let's look 20 years down the road, and see how we would want to be aligned. If you've still got a 20 year old 2002 Cooper S with the original Tritec motor and you need spares or access to a diagnostic machine, then BMW alignment may be a real bonus. Just some thoughts. To you guys in QLD, having spoken to BMW - how do they propose to support you? Are you happy with their input? Regards, ElTel |

Offline | Thank Danny, for the offer of support and help don't worry we'll be taken you up on it. Tez do you have a contact name at BMW as I might if you don't mind give them a call and see what they have to say and let them know how keen we are about it. It might be early days yet but it might be worth while to get all interested MINI owners together and get the ball in motion. I will be contacting Melbourne Mini Garage tomorrow an see what they can do. You can contact me on 0409339273 if you wish to discuss this further. Thanks Dom ![]() DARK SILVER COOPER S |

| MINI2 Senior | We are currently putting together a formal written proposal for MINI Australia and the four MINI Garages in the SE corner of Queensland. Our initial contact with BMW/MINI has been very promising. You just have to get the balance right in the inital proposal and then go from there. |

As they all ready have a 02 and a 6 series register. As is was told its a BMW with a dfferant badge and sold thru BMW dealers. DARK SILVER COOPER S |

Offline | There are 5 of us in NSW that have now in, they are very cool and want as many Mini's as they can get.. they are also very organised re track days and events for each month. I think they are a good stepping stone till we see how they go in QLD (go boys, blaze a trail ![]() ![]() ) cause i they look like they are on a good thing.. and i know they are a pretty cohesive bunch up there..The original SWORKS |
