Australia Any Victorians interested in a run?

For those interested in a run, I am part of a group called ESCAPE that get together once a month for a run. This group started as owners of English sports cars that needed an excuse once a month to run their cars. Generally, the run takes 2 -3 hours, with a morning tea break in the middle, so that you can be home in time to spend the rest of the day with the family (or polishing your car.)

The next run is Sunday March 16th, meeting out the front of the Nunawading Civic Centre at 7:00am to depart at 7:15am sharp. (Sorry that's the downside for Saturday night party animals.)

This month's route is: Nunawading - Mitcham - Wonga Park - Warrandyte - Kangaroo Ground - Hurstbridge - St Andrews - Kinglake - MORNING TEA - and then return.

For the car buffs, there is usually a strong turnout of Austin Healeys, MGs, Triumphs, Jags, occasional Fiat or Alfa. There has been up to 30 cars per run.

If you are interested and need more information call me on 0408 004 006 or see you on the 16th.

Chris

Chris, my wife and I would love to join in, but that date is not good for us. That sort of run sounds like a lot of relaxed fun. I'll be in touch to discuss the BMW meeting and the next ESCAPE drive.

Great shots Chris. Love foggy days out on the road.

The group seem to be mainly male, 40+, who drive 60s and 70s sports cars. You've obviously been accepted as part of the group with your Sprite, but how do they feel about having EFI, plastic, robot built, 2002 manufactured cars tagging along? Or are they just enthusiasts who appreciate fine sporty cars?

You are right, the group is mainly males, however many guys bring their wives along for the run. Before our son, my wife regularly joined me for the run. It is actually encourage to bring your partners. As for the age, it does vary, I think that it is something to do with disposable income. But I'm 35, my wife is 30 and there is a growing group of those under 40. As for the 'classic not plastic' mentality, I would say that they are just enthusiasts who appreciate fine sports cars. Note last run there were many MX5s, a RX 7, Calibra and of course my Cooper.

Without wanting to sound too defensive, try it out one Sunday morning. If it doesn't suit you, that's cool. What I like about the group is that everybody simply appreciates sporty cars.

Chris
