Offline | Hi, I will definitely be going to the oran park track day. I have ordered tickets for the dinner, but will play that by ear. If anyone is intending to go to oran park I would suggest they get their entry in quickly. There are a limited number of places, and there will be people coming from interstate, so it may book out. Also, because there will be full entry list, it will probably be more crowded than usual, and therefore there may be less track time. I believe there is a motorkhana in the morning, and a track supersprint in the afternoon. (The motorkhana will be less affected by numbers, as if necessary they can split it into 2 groups going at the same time, maybe minis vs bmws?) It would be great to see a few minis out there Robbo |

Offline | I am getting an electronic version tomorrow that i will have available for anyone who is interested in racing at the nationals... Also, just talked to David Atkin who is the Motorsport Director regarding which class the Mini will be in. He said that there is talk that if we get enough Minis involved they would probably make new classes for us.. one for stock Cooper S's and one for Modified Cooper S's... So..... lets go racing.... Also, ![]() another interesting bit of info...At Wakefield Park raceway, they have a few open days each week that you can go down and practice for $80/day (after you have your 12 month Wafefield license $110??) ... Might head down a couple of times and get some practice in ![]() ![]() ![]() www.wakefieldpark.com Probably going to go for a spin on Wednesday 2nd April if anyone want to come ![]() The original SWORKS |

Offline | Hi, A class of minis racing against each other, that would be amazing. A word of warning about track open days. From what I have heard it is pot luck. The track is open to anyone who pays the money. That might include V8 supercars, trackcars, roadcars or hoons with an old V8 banger that want to thrash it round the track. Whereas club days are safe and well organised (eg overtaking on main straight etc) open days can be a free for all. If you are experienced it is probably OK. But for first timers it might be a bit scary, and there are no instructors. I am going to a track day at eastern creek on 2/4. It is a regular day I go to, many excellent cars (porsche, ferrari, lambos, and minis!, plus many "normal" cars). Unlimited track time, with excellent instructors. It is not cheap, but great fun. A day at an one of these events will teach you a lot. If anyone is interested it is Burrows Drive Days at www.eventsoneill.com. Strictly it is invitation only, so if anyone is interested tell Luke O'Neill you were referred by Andrew Robinson. Robbo |

Offline | Mate, i've done it once (Feb at Wakefield Park) and this is my first performance car so i am probably as novice as you can get, it was with the BMW club and it is very controlled. No overtaking except for a couple of straights and if someone catches you, you have to let them pass.. You go out with an instructor for at least the first session and then you just take it at your own pace.. They let you out onto the track at a good spacing between cars and you may catch one in the session and one may catch you.. depending on how many are on the track at once.. I was out with only 5 other cars.. All this means is that there is no fender to fender racing, it is primarily against the clock, for fun.. You gotta do it, i was nervous as hell till i got out there with a trainer and my first few laps were probably slower than what i would have done on the street.. But every lap got a bit quicker as i learned the track, and by the end of the fourth session i had the DSC off and started learning how to control slide around the corners... It's heaps of fun and you learn lots.. The original SWORKS |
