Dale, great to hear from you again after the GOR drive. That was a very satisfying drive. Hope this one is is ok too, but at a more leisurely pace. Was it James that was with you last time?

I can see us trying to get onto the 3pm ferry, and I've told them that there are about 10 cars wanting to make the trip. Was it very busy when you went, and what time of day did you catch the ferry?

Got any ideas for stop offs on the Bellarine Peninsula?

Looking forward to seeing you on the day.

Regards, ElTel

Good idea, DJP. We need to get some firm numbers. I'll make up a list of promisees tonight and ask people to confirm numbers.

Now how do we organise 10 parking spots out the front?

Currently the list of attendees is

swamos and wife,
Spazz,
eltel and wife,
ccsmini, wife and child,
CoopeR (possibly less girlfriend, )
ratboy, wife and 2 children
MrMow and girlfriend
DJP and girlfriend
(plus others?)

I will probably make a booking at Portsea Pub for this number, so if things change, please let me know asap.

We'll understand if you don't join us on the ferry, you are under no obligation to do so, we'll bid you farewell at Sorrento. There's plenty of things to do on the Mornington Peninsula if you have some spare time after lunch.

After a long lunch, we need to be at the Sorrento ferry terminal by 2:30 to line up for the 3:00pm ferry. Depending on how we are going for time we may try to make the 2:00 ferry and give ourselves a bit more time on the other side of the bay.

Feel free to call me on 0414 44 22 09 if you have any questions or suggestions.

Till then, drive carefully, ElTel

Tez
i traveled at 1:00 pm on the easter sunday and rocked up just in time to catch the ferry. there was a whole queue reserved for "small" cars and there were very few on that day. mostly 4wd and sedans. there should'nt be a problem getting on the ferry at 3:00pm but you will need to be at the terminal waiting about 45mins before departure to guarantee a berth.

as for bellarine penisula i dont know of any spots to look at other than queenscliff or barwon heads but theres not much there. you could however go to the foreshore of eastern beach in geelong for some photo ops.

james wont be coming however as he is "on assignment". i think that means he was so scared of the little cars last time time i should be able to gather another potential victim.....er sorry pasanger for the run

cant wait till the 18th....must stay calm and keep playing xbox as i can throw the cooper s around without all the screaming......

I have made a booking for lunch at the Portsea Hotel for 20 people for 12:30. The lady assures me that it should not be too busy. If we get extra people turning up then we should still get in.

The main meal is $16 - $22, with childrens meals available. So please budget accordingly, especially if you're taking the ferry across the bay.

If the weather is anything like today, it will be a superb day and the views from various stopping points will be breathtaking.

Till then, ElTel

Great Tez I am looking forward to it. It should be a nice leasurely drive. But at the moment it looks as if I will be doing it solo I might see if my cousin wants to come along again but I think he is getting a little sick of these little cars !!!

Is it possible to get an address to where we are all meeting as I have no idea where the St Kilda Marina is. Thanks for that.

Matt, no problem. The St Kilda Marina is at the corner of Marine Parade and Dickens St , Melways map 67 Ref A1.

If you are coming from the city go past Luna Park and continue south. Turn right into the Marina carpark at the BP service station. See attached map.

We are meeting at 9:30am for a 10:00am shove-off. Changed my mind, we'll meet at 9:00 for a 9:30 kick-off. The trip to portsea will take at least 2 hrs driving and we want to stop at a couple of places for sight seeing.

A full post of expected itinerary and time will follow in a little while.

Regards, Eltel

Vic Drive – 18th May – swamos day

Meet : Time : 9:00 am : Where : Carpark of St Kilda Marina, behind BP service Station. Entry to carpark is at intersection of Marine Parade and Dickens St, St. Kilda. This is also the carpark for RIVA restaurant. Meet at the carpark close to the beach. Melways map 67 A1See small map in Post #54 above.

Set off Time : 9:30am. Please call me Terry on 0414 44 22 09 or Chris 0408 004 006 if you’re running late.

Route: We’ll drive along Marine Parade, turn left at Glenhuntly Rd, drive for about a kilometre, then turn right into Nepean Highway. We’ll follow Nepean Hwy down to Mordialloc, turn left at White St (Melways 87 E10), then right at Boundary Rd and join the Mornington Peninsula Freeway near Edithvale (Melways 93 F6).

Follow the freeway right down to Frankston, turning right off the Freeway into Cranbourne Rd (Melways 102 F3, and 100A J8). Work our way south around the Frankston shops to join Nepean Hwy (Melways 102 C2). Turn left at Nepean Hwy and drive along the coast for about a kilometre and then a U-Turn to take in the view at the top of Oliver’s Hill.

Back onto the Nepean Hwy and we’ll eventually get back onto the Mornington Peninsula Freeway and turn off at Dromana (Melways 159 G8) to drive to the top of Arthur’s Seat to (hopefully) enjoy the view.) Rejoin the Freeway until Rosebud, then along Nepean Hwy to Sorrento and Portsea.

Lunch : 12:30pm at Portsea Hotel. We’ll look for a suitable spot where we can all park together. I’ve booked in for 20. After lunch we have until 2:15 to get to Sorrento to join the queue for the ferry.

Ferry : 3pm. We need to be in the queue at Sorrento by 2:15 roughly. The cost is $44 per car and driver and approx $5 per extra passenger. The ferry stops at Queenscliff.

Queenscliff : 3:45pm.We disembark and spend some time looking at the quaint fishing village and historic resort of Queenscliff. Time for a coffee.

Head for Geelong and Melbourne.People can take their own time to return home. It will be getting dark by 5:30pm.
