| C'mon you Spurs! | hey all, just wondering if anyone had ordered the Cooper S upgrade (is it 200BHP or 210BHP?) here in Sydney. does anyone have figures on the performance increase? top end and 0-100? also does it involve a new exhaust, and if so would that exhuast still satisfy "regulations" how much is it? and where can we order it from? does it invalidate the warranty....oh so many questions ![]() also - is anyone else keen to organise a track day where we can take our pride and joys around the track for a spin? I was invited to a Mazda MX5 day (at wakefield) which is running this weekend, but unfortunately can't make it. is there a BMW event we could join? take over ;-) Al. |

Offline | Re: Cooper S upgrades and NSW Track days? Hi Al, I and a few others on this board have joined the BMW club of NSW ... http://www.bmwclubs.asn.au/nsw/ They have regular track days and events. They are talking about making a new class for the Mini if we get enough people involved so we are competing againgst like cars..they will probably differentiate between "Works" upgraded cars and stock also. As for there classification system. Allowable mods that will not put you up a class in there current structure are... *Brake upgrades *Spring, shock absorber and sway bar changes, includinng adjustable camber plates. *Exhaust changes as allowed by the RTA eg. pretty well cat back no probs or new system with new Catalytic converters *Air filter/Air Box changes *Reprogramming of original engine management system but not a replacement system thats pretty well it otherwise they start jacking you up some classes ie, i use semi slicks which put me up one class.. There is a monthly meeting on next Wednesday at BMW Sydney if you want to drop by to see what the deal is. The BMW nationals are also on next month over Easter at Oran Park, if you want to join in on the fun you need to register by the end of the month.. I can PM you Cheryl Haywood's (Membership Secretary) number if you want it. Apart from that, the next motorsport round is in June at Wakefield Park (I am actually heading down there next Wednesday for an Open day to have a bit of practice). Works kit will be available from your dealer..order now if you want it cause there will be limited supplies.. The original SWORKS |

| C'mon you Spurs! | $11,000!!!!! I hope not. I've been reading all about the Hartge performance upgrade for the Cooper S (followed the link from the banner ads here). They talk about at introductory price of 1499+vat (UKP) for - increased BHP to 212-215 (TUV have approved upto 220BHP) - 0-60mph quicker by 1 second (now 6.6s) - 0-100mph nearly 6 seconds quicker!!! (now 15.1s) more details www.birds.uk.com click on "mini" ![]() - they also have pictures of a super sexy exhaust, borrowed from the M3/M5 (ie four pipes at the back).question: what (or who) is TUV...is this the BMW waranty geezers? Offline | I am pretty sure that the European TUV is like our ADR (Australian Design Regulations).. The Hartge kit passes roadworthy/environmental regulations for Europe which i am led to believe is a stamp of approval as such.. The people who were looking at bringing it into Australia are Peak Performance out at Parramatta who are Hartge Authorised dealers. I think i heard a price of $6K a while ago.. You would have to call them to get the real price. The original SWORKS |

Offline | I'm probably going to get the hartge conversion in a few weeks.. although i think 5 grand is a little rich, i know the part cost is only around 2500.. so they're doubling it for fitting.. and i've read it should cost alot less.. so i'll have a talk to them sometime after my car is serviced next week and see what the go is, not that interested in the exhaust.. want it to look stock.. but mmmm 200hp ![]() |

Offline | Does that 4 port exhaust that is being offered for $1700 make a difference? Does anyone know if it cat back or does that include header as well. Id be interested in doing and exhaust and CAI for my MCS but that is as far as i can go. Im budgeting 2k....thats 2k less to spend on the engagement ring for the misses ![]() Nick Dark Silver/White MCS Build/June 2002 |

Offline | Hey Goul, if you have $2K to do mods, i would probably look at sway bars first.. Forget about the extra power..you don't really need it and the thing is built for corners anyway.. Or, maybe look at a chip upgrade?? ![]() ![]() ![]() The original SWORKS |

Offline | Boo One more question, are you happy with the Pipercross CAI.I think that will be the first mod of all...reason im asking is because ive noticed the JCW kit does not alter the Cooper S intake system which leads me to believe it is ok Cheers Nick ![]() Nick Dark Silver/White MCS Build/June 2002 |
