Offline | sounds like it!! I was out at Wakefield park on Wednesday doing G-force testing for the new suspension set up and there was an XR6 Turbo there also.. he was marginally quicker down the straight but was 4 secs slower around the track than the Cooper S using the same driver.. I did have my semi-slicks on though ![]() ![]() Also, the Ford ran out of brakes after 3 laps where as the S was still going strong at 10.. Go get em on the track guys, i know you will have heaps of fun.. The original SWORKS |

| MINI2 Senior | I walk out the back of work today, and there's these two brand new XR8 Turbo Utes parked there, getting the royal treatment from the VERY lucky Triple M guys, who get to drive them around and give people free stuff! Good god... he was telling me all about the turbo - standard at 8psi boost, but apparantly you can bung it up to 24 and still be under warranty! It's not a big turbo, but boy howdy does it blow! Offline | Boo, Nice to hear another story of the mini whipping a performance car! Seriously the XR6 is a very nice car, much more fun to drive than many cars. However, it has nothing on the mini. How did the day at Wakefield go? I'm sure it would have been a very good experience to learn a lot about the cars handling. I'm sure the suspension guys would have had many pearls of wisdom to impart. I'm itching to know, what was the fastest time anyone got the mini round the circuit, what time did you do? I'm away from tonight for a week, but get back just in time for Oran park. See you there! Robbo |

Offline | Cheers Robbo, can't wait for Oran Park ![]() ![]() The driver they used did a 1:16:8 around Wakefield. The G-Force indicator peaked at 1.28 g's which they said was incredible for a stock car... regularly sustaining mid 1.1 g's through the entire turn.. They also said the indicator showed a lot of lost traction and grip that can be regained from sway bars, more camber on the front and back and better performance shocks... I think they are really excited about where they can take the car considering the fantastic starting place and well constructed chassis.. They are taking the car on the 1st and 2nd of July to take the suspension apart and take measurements so they can design the new set up. From there about 2-4 weeks to build the custom set up and get the car back for retesting. So far we are looking at bigger sway bars front and back, adjustable camber plates front and back and a set of these new adjustable coilovers they have specially designed for cars that are tracked regularly but also are used on the road... An interesting point was shown in testing between the stock road tyres and the semi slick. BTW, anyone who wants to track their car i seriously suggest getting some semi slicks as with just two sessions on the track with the Pirelli runflats, i ran though 50% of the rubber on the front outside tyre.. Anyway, what we saw was that the road tyres suffered almost the opposite to the track tyres.. Where the car was easily better than the road tyres, the track tyres could take much more than the car was set up to give it.. What will probably happen is that we will probably have two distinct settings for track and regular road use and my guess is that they will be significantly different hence the need for adjustable everything ![]() ![]() ![]() Hope this hasn't been too long winded ![]() ![]() The original SWORKS |

Offline | I've never been on a track but can feel a growing urge to have a go. I had a recommendation to try one of the performance driving days these guys offer http://www.sdt.com.au/ out at Willowbank. Have any MINI drivers tried these guys? 1 x MCS EB+Black |

| MINI Traitor | Welcome aboard, ppi. It's good to have another fellow Brisbane MINI owner on MINI2. You might be interested to know that there is a very active group of MINI owners up here in Queensland. We are currently in the process of forming a club. Watch this space for details in the future. ![]() I haven't heard anything about these people, although it looks quite interesting. When we have the club going, we'll investigate these options then. I am having a run at Easter at Queensland raceway in my Elan. I'll let you know what I think of the track after that. ![]() |

| MINI Traitor | Yes it is actually The front two cylinders were a little rich, and the plug in number 1 was intermittent. I have replaced it, and it is much happier. No more lumpy idle, and it crackles even more on overrun than it used to. You can hear it at the end of the straight when I went down two (it was the last lap). I now have the roll cage downstairs, so that's the job for when I get back from Sydney ![]() |
