Offline | Best Wax to use on the mini's in OZ Hi all Its come to that time where i have to buy some wax to polish my baby and cannot decide which brand to go with. I have looked at the overseas threads and they all say Zymol but i cannot find it in this end of the globe. Also should i trust detailers to do it or do it myself????? |

Offline | Zymol is available here (in Melb anyway) at most Autobarns (you have them in Brissie?), its about $80 for a tub, I bought some and while its pretty good (and very shiny), I found it to be a pain in the fleshy part at the top of yer legs.. As you polish it off it creates these showers of pale green wax which manage to get in everywhere.. (I know most people swear by the stuff, but for me life is too short..) I use Eagle One Carnuba or Maguires Gold Class which works pretty well for me (but neither of these would be considered 'enthusiast' waxes), I keep my car and my custom painted Ducati very very clean and always waxed, I considered very anal by most peeps who know me, but obviously not as much as some others! I hear very good things about AutoGlym Resin polish, I'm going to try some on the weekend.. |

Offline | I have done alot of research on waxes and polishes and i can tell you Zymol is your ordinary Turtle Wax. I spoke to a distributor in the USA who told me that Turtle Wax bought out Zymol. So i wouldnt go spending $80 on it when you might as well get turtle wax. Zaino Bros is a great polish, there is a guy in Melbourne who sells it, here is the website www.aurora-one.com.au If you have alot of time to spare and u want maximum shine i would buy the Zaino Bros polish, i have used it on my s2000 and i can tell you it looks awesome and provides long protection and shine. If you dont have the time Meguires is easy and quick to use. I have just found this polish from Germany called Autolac it has UV filters in it and lasts for up to 5 months. Good Luck ![]() Nick Dark Silver/White MCS Build/June 2002 |

Offline | At the BMW Club meeting this guy from Rembrandt's Automotive Paint Restorers gave a talk on this.. He is contracted to quite a few prestige car yards including quite a few BMW yards. He imports a product from the states that can only be applied by a pro detailer that has been trained in this special paint protection. Apparently it is the "Only system trusted by the US navy to protect their Aegis radars!" Given the exposure to the elements that these ships get (salt water and all) it must be pretty good stuff... They give a five year guarantee even against acid marks (eg bat ****).. He said you never have to wax after it has been applied, just wash the car and chamois dry. Gives UV protection to paint, bumpers and chrome.. Cost.. $350 for the car and an extra $50 if you want you upholstery, carpets and interior (dash etc) done.. The original SWORKS |

Offline | Boo i have also heard of this system.....i have had a bad experience with paint protection a few years ago. The stupid dealer gave me the 5 year warranty, no scratch marks, etc etc etc ......u never need to wax it again crap so i went for it....3 months later the car had reacted badly to it and scuff marks had appeared on it..........to cut a long story short they opted to respray the car but i told them i wanted a new car and in the end i got a new car. I say if u have the time, poilsh and wax it every few months on your own.......if you cant be bothered paint protection is better than nothing. We all love our Minis and a little bit of elbow grease wont hurt us every few months ![]() Nick Dark Silver/White MCS Build/June 2002 |

Offline | My two cents. I have used several carnuba waxes and several poly compounds as well on foreign and domestic marques. I prefer the polyglycoat compounds like Zaino for the length of time they last. That said, Zaino is without a doubt the best I have run up against but what a pain to apply (takes 36+ hours to do right). The steps include claying the car, a precoat, and then multiple layers of the final coat with dryng time in between applications. For my money and time I compramise with a German product called Klasse. This is a cleaner poly dual purpose product which also comes in a poly only final coat. I does not leave as deep a shine as Zaino (nor does it smell as good) but it only takes a few hours to give a royal treatment to the car. Costs $40 US for the kit which will cover about 8 applications. FWIW ![]() |

Offline | they're high carnauba content [30-60%] swiss-made products! i never heard anything of them on the audiworld forum, & nobody talks about them here... but a web search turns up a number of sites that talk highly of them! they're available [@ a price premium comparable to zymol etc] over here from www.waxwizard.com.au, but i always hesitate when venturing out into unchartered territory! i've decided to fork out the extra cash & go premium, , & @ this stage it's probably a toss-up between zaino [from www.aurora-one.com.au], zymol & swissol [both from www.waxwizard.com.au]! any info / opinions etc cheers gary |
