Offline | i know this topic has come up b4 but i hv had my MCS for nearly 1 month now, and i m frustrated by having to fill up the petrol tank at least once a week. my average fuel consumption is 10.3L/100km. and the best i managed was 10.2!!! i m running Optimax all the time....with 99% city driving. i hope that the consumption will go down when i put more milage in, but i would expect a bit better than that!!! i dont drive slow, but i am by no means a fast/ heavy footed driver. my friend's Clio 172 and averaging low 7s.... pls tell us ur avg fuel consum. |

| Numb from Jäger | I'm making the sticker average quite often in my MC. I have noticed my mpg increase with mileage. I have about 5700 miles, mostly on highway. I expect the stop-n-go of city driving would hurt your average. Yours should increase with break-in though. -goin440 IB/IB MC |

| MINI Traitor | Sorry, mate I'm sorry to tell you this mate, but they don't really get any better. They seem to chew fuel when in stop-start traffic. In our very stop start traffic we have been averaging 11+ However in the same conditions our v6 vienta does 16 ![]() Mine is excellent on the highway. As long as your driving containes some highway stuff, the averages don't seem too bad. The clio is a lot lights (because it's made of plastic), and has a high comp N/A motor. When stopping and starting such a heavy car as the mini, the blown engine is bad. Because of the lower compression, and off boost scenario you have to use more throttle. ![]() Clubman less.... ![]() |

Offline | Got about 6.1 on the highway and can get 7.9 around town if you keep the RPM under 3500. You should see it get better as the engine gets more Km on it, also I got better the colder the temp is. |

Offline | I get 11.2 city driving and on my recent trip to Jervis Bay got 7.8 highway driving. Mind you this is after the cd upgrade to fix the cold start problem Prior to the cd upgrade i was getting 8.0 city driving and high sixers highway driving. I must admit im not to happy with the current figures and i have raised it with my dealer who says we cant go back to the original seetings due to the cd upgrade ![]() Nick Dark Silver/White MCS Build/June 2002 |

Offline | That's what a Supercharger will do to fue consumption, unless you drive it like an old lady. If you drive it like a normal car you should get slightyly better figures but if you start or keep driving it like it should be driven...FAST then your consumption will be less than impressive. But performance is why you bought the Cooper S so just enjoy it as much as you can and be thankful you didn't buy a V8 or a Supercharged V6. 02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW. Offline | I average low 7's highway and mid 8's city\highway driving and I do bit of city driving, and stick the foot in when I can. I had a loaner Cooper with triptronic and on the same trip I would get high 10's I couldn't wait to get my MCS back. DARK SILVER COOPER S |

| Smurfing Around | How can you keep the revs <3500?? Didn't even need to stay that low whilst running in. I get around 9-10 around town, always driving with a heavy foot. Other people have always been able to get better fuel economy than me in previous cars I have owned, can't really compare with the MINI as no-one else has been allowed to drive it. |

Offline | Even in city driving, if you keep an eye on revs as snoopy suggests you can easily manage 7s, but I'm sure very few of us would experience that. I'm getting mid 9s even though I drive it pretty fast when I can, but I've done 18,000kms. Really fast driving through the country, lots of gear changes, lots of acceleration and I've never got it over 10.5 average. |

Offline | SWAMOS now I'm really concerned, I was a little worried previously at you retentiveness but now I'm quite concerened and maybe a little scared That combined with the look you gave me when I said "I sometines like my stereo loud when I driving hard" it was a look of pure horror that implied, "what? you have music on when you're driving fast??? how can you be so calous? with music on there's no way you'd hear the gear ratios and be able to calculate your optimum approach velocity and vector" So I'm now odering the SWAMOS MILENIA IN CAR CALCULATOR to work out those messy driving calcualtions. It's an aftermarket option that simply fits in the centre console where the stereo is, or should I say was. Offline | The nav computer in my car usually says 9-10l/100km in traffic. I find it's actually inaccurate - about 1l/100km lower than what it REALLY is. I've seen it around 7-8l/100km on long trips. The DTE went to 0 last week in traffic - I was scared! |

Offline | Great meeting up with some of the MINI2 forum members last night at jasemini - For a LS1-V8 owner it was great to be so openly welcomed to your group. Regarding the fuel consumption 10-12 is a dream that I can only wish for - reality for me is 20-24 (note no WOT just round town Driving), given that I have been in Jasemini and had him on drive with me, The MINI's performance is quite good, then you consider how much better the fuel consumption is. I have to give the MINI credit disdis Dont be concerned with 10-12 with that kind of performance - its only fuel - if its a problem drive less. BTW jasemini - what is with the signature at the end of your replies - " MINI - your only supposed to blow the doors off" - ANY TIME you may try again Thanks guys again - look forward to catching up again sometime - maybe on a cruise VX255 |
