Hi,

Yes I am going!

However, a 7:30 start in Goulburn on a Saturday morning looks a little painful

For anyone else interested, why dont you come down to have a look?

If anyone is interested in tracking their car it would be a useful opportunity to come and have a look at the set-up, talk to other mini enthusiasts (ie myself and Boo). Just turn up anytime. We will be their 7:30 to 3:30.

Also it is a nice drive. On the way home you could go the back way through Braidwood

Boo and I would love to see some more mini owners. The BMW club is very friendly, and most people their love the minis.

I wish i could come, but before I knew about the BMW track day I organised for 7 of my friends to go to Oran Park for a track day on Sat 7th. The Australiam Academy of Motorsport organises that. Is anyone coming to that day( I doubt it ).

Hi Trelo,

Pity you can't come.

You should try and come along to a day at the BMW club. We need more minis!

I noticed you got most of your work done at Peak. Nick supports all the BMW meets. They even turn up with a pit crew to change wheels / sort out mechanical problems for Peak customers. Ask the guys at Peak, I am sure they will encourage you to come along!

Also, its a small world. I got my brakes done at "Race Brakes". They told me how they had recently sold a big brake kit to peak to install on a mini. I thought it was Boo, but obviously it was your car!

I'll be there on the next track day.
Nick actually informed me of the track day but it wasd too late as already paid for 7 people.
I saw Nick on monday and is trying to finish his Z3 with a m3 engine for the day.

Robbo, when are you heading down to Goulburn??
I am leaving tomorrow afternoon and staying down there for the night. Definitely not keen to wake up at 5am to get down there for 7:30am scrutineering

It's going to be bloody cold too

Boo,

Cold weather is good for superchargers! As long as there is not snow on the track!

I am hoping I will be able to get away from work at a reasonable time, in which case I will head down tomorrow evening. I probably wont get there till 9 or so, but that has to be better than a 5 o clock start from home.

See you on Saturday

Hi,

I haven't booked anywhere.

I understand that many BMW club members are staying at the "Lilac City Motor Inn" with an informal dinner at 7 (phone 4821500).

However, as I will be arriving late, I will probably crash at the first decent motel I see.

Once piece of advice from my band touring days. Never stay in a motel at Goulburn in winter that has fibro walls!

Wakefield yesterday was awesome, very cold but heaps of fun...
Robbo and I spent all sessions on the track at the same time and had heaps of fun.. I love the new larger roll bar in the rear too. Has eliminated just about all the understeer and has replaced it with slight oversteer..
You hop it round the corner and take you foot off the gas to induce the back out then apply it again when you wish to pull it back into line and truck on round the corner..

Was a bit unsettling at first but once i got used to it and compensate with more power it was wicked fun

Robbo and I found our cars to be very even and had turns leading and chasing... One thing we learned is that it is much easier to chase than to lead

The only pass of the day was Robbo passing me down the straight...
To give you an idea how close we were..
My best time was 4/1000's faster than Robbo's best time which if my calculations are correct, approx 13cm over a 2.2km circuit .. sweet revenge for the flogging he gave me at Oran Park the last round

Boo, probably at least 2 of those 13 centimetres were your additional driving lights

Hi,,

I had an absolute ball yesterday at Wakefield. The only bummer was it was so cold!

Wakefield is great fun in the mini. Even more fun having another mini to compete against! In the afternoon they did paired racing, with Boo and myself sent off as a pair to race each other.

We both improved heaps through the day. In the morning Boo set the pace, going mid 1:17 to my low 18's.

After lunch I pulled out a mid 16 with Boo low 17's. In that session I manage to overtake Boo on the straight. I'm sure Boo just let me through because he wanted to see 2 minis side by side on the straight!

Just when I thought I had the best time, Boo came out in the last session and beat me by 4/1000ths of a second. Congratulations AJ, your driving has improved enourmously.

It is uncanny that our times were so similar.

As usual there were some awesomely fast cars there. Also, as usual, we both learnt a lot during the day. Discussing the track with other drivers, trying different lines etc is great. Also it is good to get technical advice such as tyre pressures etc from some of the very knowledgable people there.

It would be nice to see more minis there at some stage!

Robbo

Definitely need more Minis to come and play

I think I dropped down to the 16's because i was following Robbo and found that in a few places he was braking much later than i was doing in previous sessions.. So i did the same..

I am really looking forward to the next Burrows drive day on the 24th to do it all again

Two of the firebreathers coming down the straight...

The Skyline was the quickest on the straights. Would have been getting close to 200km/h down the short main straight..
