Offline | Pulley avail in Melb @ QSZ!!! just spoken to Simon at QSZ in Mleb. he said they now hv an "in-house' engineered pulley/belt system (1 month of full testing) no mods of ECU needed, however, customised modding is recommended (IMO) to maximise hp gains and that is available too. the pulley is made of some kinda alloy. (1 piece i presume...) cost: 425 + fitting! he said that one guy has the pulley+ cat-back scorpion + panel replacement filter and achieved 190 hp on dyno. It will probably be just under 200 bhp with ecu tweaking! looks like i dont needed to drive to Sydney for Hartge afterall! also: milltek header+cat is about 2200+fitting. claimed 20bhp gain. just cant wait till my first factory service is due. ![]() |

Offline | I have had headers and custom exhaust custom with no power changes, and then put a pod filter on as well and the dyno readings only gave me a 3% gain in the touque no differance in power. If this is MCS I have driven it has had the ECU upgrade and it was going to have a new cam as well. Offline | its not that u dont get any increase with changing headers and cat-backs. its just that u r not maximising ur mods until ur ecu is set-up and individualised to your particular car. every mod do different things to ur car, and the ecu can "harmonise" all these different changes (so to speak)...and maximise the "potential" gains optimistically claimed by manufacturers. ratboy: pls tell us more about ur mods, did u get them done at QSZ??? |

Offline | No the exhaust was to by an exhaust expert who is a very good freind of mine, I beleive that QSZ have rung him about the headers for a MCS that they are doing the cam on. QSZ claimed that the scorpion cat back system has a power increase of about 4-5Kw that when I spoke to them in March,so by me doing what I did I should have got more but with no Luck I refuse to pay $2200 for a scorpion cat-back system so I ordered one in direct from the UK it will cost me ~$1300.00 landed and we will then try that. Offline | I've got a 15% reduction pulley already installed. Been on for about a month and there is a definate improvement in the mid range and top end ,still no screamer under 3k (1.6 low comp car weighing 1200kg} but definately worth the dough mine cost about $700 fitted at link automotive. |

Offline | Link automotive are in thornton road mitcham, they speacize in old mini and do a lot of supercharging. I found them to be very keen and helpful. The pulley itself is a minimaddness pulley from the uk its a taper design, best value mod you can do if your prepared to kiss goodbye to your warranty! The only other engine mods i have are pipercross filter and hiteck cat back. |

Offline | Word of warning about Alloy pulleys people... Many US and Euro tuners have stopped using Alloy pulleys on there Super chargers as they have a different heat expansion rate. Due to the Shaft of the SuperCharger being a Billet of Stainless steel its expansion rate and harmonics are completely different to that of the alloy 1 piece units. They have found that after about 2 to 3 months the Alloy Pulleys either fly off destroying the supercharger by bending the shaft as the pulley hits the front cross member or they end up spinning freely and you get no boost and destroy the shaft of the supercharger. I believe after talking to many engineers about this that there are only 2 true safe ways to replace the pulley. Heat up a steel pulley and fit it hot so it shrinks to fit the shaft or a 2 or 3 piece one that can CLAMP down as its tightened. i believe Altaminiperformace and MiniMania have these types availiable. |
