Offline | wow... can't believe you beat me home harry, & you've even uploaded some pics! must've been a shorter trip to canberra than sydney afterall! it was a great first drive for leigh & i, even better when the sun finally came out as had been forecast! for all those that didn't do the mountain on the way home i can only say SORRY... it was absolutely brilliant! ![]() ![]() congrats to brad et al for all the hard work, & i reckon the spurious directions just made it that much more of a 'mini adventure' [mental note to self - get sat nav!] we had an old-fashioned camera with us, so i'll post some pics once the film-processors do their thing! hoping to see some of those sydney mini garage faces on mini2 & future runs... & looking forward to seeing some now-familiar faces on november 30! .g Last edited by gazah : Sep 22nd, 2003 at 04:52 AM. |

Offline | Thanks for a great day Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for organising, running and taking part in a great day out. We really, really enjoyed ourselves. In particular, the spin up the mountain road was a total blast, though it was a little bit frustrating with an un-run-in S and Works Kit as didn't feel I could fully go for it. Maybe next time... Anyway, a top day, and personally I quite enjoyed the "scenic" drive back. Thanks again. Gav |

| MINI2 Regular | Gav You needed to be in front! Due to a twist of fate, Avril and I were leading this leg, and it was a hoot The road was clear of traffic: as it was raining, no bike riders and no waiting for slow grannies doing the recommended speed around corners. ... now I am waiting for the speeding tickets! ![]() Smurfing Around | Thanks for the great drive. We all enjoyed the day, although it was probably a bit too much for young Liam, will probably do the next drive without him. The photos came out well Nick and Gary (one R or 2, sorry if wrong). And Gazah, what's this bit about a camera with ?film? in it. A digital camera is the first addition to a MINI, much before a Whalen Shift Machine or an MP3 player ![]() |

Offline | gav... i saw that black wrx pull up next to you guys @ the lights around picton way, i'm sure he didn't realise there were a coupla works kits there [& he had a magna or something in front of him anyway!] & when you say 'un-run-in S and Works Kit ' do you mean your works kit fitted pre-delivery? interesting! |

Offline | Running In Yeah, I saw him too, and contemplated having a play, but think that my path was blocked in front and then suddenly the 2 lanes became 1! Had the Works kit fitted at around 1200kms about 3 weeks ago. As you know, JCW say keep it under 4,500 rpm till you get to 2,000kms. Funnily enough I hit 2,000kms right by a speed camera on the M5 on the way back last night so think I may now be free to stir it up a bit. Still gutted that I couldn't really go for it on the mountains yesterday. Was feeling very compromised all day with the 4,500 limit and then the last straw was Shaw having the audacity to take me at the lights in his S on the way home (judging by the tyre smoke he had obviously turned off his traction control as well)! So all in all, still haven't fully explored the Works kit, though even at under 4,500 rpm the extra torque makes it much more driveable so still happy. Gav |

Offline | Hah! Assuming that HarryMorant drives the Cooper S with NSW "CPR S" number plates, then i'm not surprised he got home quickly. He flew past me on the Hume Highway last night (Sunday) just before Canberra. I was in Sydney over the weekend and had planned on attending the drive, but had to pull out last minute due to an illness in the family. Look forward to hopefully going on the Blue Mountains trip! Sam Dark silver Cooper S with black roof, silver R85's, DSC, climate control, alarm, MFSW/cruise control, sunroof, gravity leather (panther black), xenon, park distance control, interior light package. |
