| Game on for MINI Cooper's Italian Job For all of you out there who have a PS2 or an XBOX, you will soon be able to relive "The Italian Job" in your own loungeroom. Game on for MINI Cooper's Italian Job 19/08/2003 MINI Cooper's Italian Job silver screen success spills onto the small screen on September 19, when the PlayStation PS2, XBOX and GAMECUBE video games hit the shops. The high-octane heist switches to interactive mode allowing amateur safecrackers and wannabe wheelmen to bring grid-locked mayhem and car chase chaos to the streets and sewers of Los Angeles, all from the comfort of their own computers. The Paramount Pictures' feature film opens across Australia on August 21, and is sure to spark a new MINI Cooper craze, just as the 1968 original turned the race and rally winners into celluloid superstars. This time, Charlie Croker and his gang careen through downtown LA in a trio of hot Coopers, on a mission to recover $28 million in bullion, the gold ripped off them by a dastardly double-crossing teammate. The MINI Coopers duck and dive through the LA underground, splash through sewers and streak along storm drains, all the while demonstrating their renowned power, poise and tractive prowess. Less than a month on from the film's cinematic debut, The Italian Job arcade driving game by Eidos hits the shelves, distributed by GameNation, Australia's premier source of interactive software. The game features three modes of play - Story Mode, Circuit Racing and Stunt Driving. Story Mode lets players follow the film's key plot, recovering the gold through 15 different missions using a range of vehicles and game styles. Players can opt to drive the red, white or blue MINI Coopers or even armoured cars. Circuit Racing is for 1 or 2 players charging around tracks based on locations from the film. The third mode is a driving skills test, piloting a feisty MINI Cooper over various obstacle courses. A cutting edge graphics engine running at a constant 60 frames-per-second drives the game, with highly detailed textures and spectacular graphical effects. The hidden extras section, providing movie footage, interviews with the cast and stills from filming is another bonus MINI fans will enjoy. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
