Offline | The Italian Job - No 1 At The Australian Box Office Just thought I'd share this news from the Oz press site... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE ITALIAN JOB - NO 1 AT THE AUSTRALIAN BOX OFFICE 08/26/2003 THE ITALIAN JOB has zoomed into the Number One position at the Australian box office, taking almost double that of its nearest rival. The classy caper proved the favourite with Australian filmgoers, taking $2.84 million in its opening weekend. Advance previews of THE ITALIAN JOB held the previous weekend saw the film take in more than $730,000 on limited sessions before its official opening, putting its total Australian box office takings in excess of $3.6 million. THE ITALIAN JOB has proven one of the hits of the American summer, taking $US97 million since it opened on May 30 and still playing in some US cinemas. A high-octane update of the 1969 classic, THE ITALIAN JOB features an excellent ensemble cast. Mark Wahlberg is Charlie Croker, whose gang - inside man Steve (Edward Norton), computer genius Lyle (Seth Green), wheelman 'Handsome Rob' (Jason Statham), explosives expert Left-Ear (Mos Def) and veteran safecracker John Bridger (Donald Sutherland) - pulls off an amazing gold bullion heist from a heavily-guarded palazzo in Venice. The euphoria of their heist evaporates when one of them turns out to be a double-crosser. Enter Stella (Charlize Theron), a beautiful nerves-of-steel safecracker who joins Charlie and his former gang when they follow the traitor to California, where they plan to re-steal the gold by tapping into Los Angeles' traffic control system and creating the mother of all traffic jams. THE ITALIAN JOB features the new MINI as one of the stars of the film, in state-of-the-art chase scenes down Hollywood's Walk of Fame, through the Metro Rail tunnels and down narrow escape routes only MINI can go. MINI, in conjunction with the Australian distributors of THE ITALIAN JOB, United International Pictures, has mounted an impressive outdoor advertising display for the film in the Sydney CBD - a full-size MINI 'driving' up the wall of a carpark located on the corner of Goulburn and Elizabeth Streets. |

Offline | Not sure if this should be in this section but my question is this; Does the red mcs in the Italian job have the jcw kit on it? Would the jcw kit have been out when the movie was made?If not it certainly has an exhaust of some description because it sounds different under full throttle- and lets face it, it was under full throttle a fair bit.. |
