Thumbs down Outrage - EB available on Cooper in Aus

I just found out that Electric Blue is available on the MINI Cooper from October 03 build. I am devestated. I can still remember the salesman when asked if EB would be available on the Cooper saying.....
Quote:
No sir, EB is an exclusive Cooper S colour

Now I know that those of you who want an EB Cooper will think this is good news, just have pity for all those people who included in their justification for buying the S the availability of EB. And to all the current Cooper owners, people who love EB won't even look at your car, so you can expect a little less re-sale too.

My exclusive car just got a lot less exclusive

Shame on you MINI Australia, what do you have to say for yourself

I wonder how long till we see a Dark Silver Cooper Lastly, for people outside Australia, I paid 20% more than the cost of a Subaru Impreza for the privaledge of owning a MINI here, and this is how we are treated At least Subaru don't make their "exclusive" colours availble across the range after 12 months If this is how they look after their best customers.................

I'll have to get myself one

Goodbye Green Mini and hello EB Mini Cooper

seriously every one know that there is only one true Mini colour and it's British Racing Green with a White Roof. Ask any one from the 60's

Never mind BMC originally had a special Cooper S grill and interior. Then along came the Mini Deluxe, with cooper S spec grill and interior. but with only a 998cc motor. So it's simply history repeating itself

Things change. I was annoyed that MFSW, light package and an extra key are now included in the 'S' price.

But at least they haven't flooded the market with cars.

I wonder if the Pepper White Cooper owners are upset as well?

If only I could get a Pepper White CVT S.... built and painted by Honda

Commiserations Steve...but not everyone wants an EB or whatever coloured Mini. I am quite happy with my British Racing Green and white one thank you.

They haven't flooded the market because they can't sell the things One of our local dealers is still trying to sell September 02 cars to unsuspecting customers

They were overpriced from the beginning, and now they are doing what they can to lower the price by adding more options. Whenever they do that it lowers the value of our cars.

Obviously exclusive to MINI Aus means until someone else asks for it

This was posted a while back and people said it's probably the website being incorrect. Have you confirmed this with your dealer?

I know EB was going to go across the range, but have now been told that it WONT go across the range in the UK at least.

I'm going to see them tomorrow. A couple of weeks ago the web site didn't have a build date for the colour. This has been added recently. Looks pretty official to me

Hi,

I am not surprised.

BMW has a long history of this. Many options / colours have been released "exclusively" in M cars in the past, only to be eventually migrated to lower range cars.

Such is life. Calm the rage. Be thankful that you have an amazing car, and that other people want to have a car thats looks as good as yours.

Also be thankful that you dont have silver / white. In my neck of the woods even the taxis have this colour scheme.

By the way, we all think our own colour is the best. Therefore, BRG / White is the best

When we were on the factory tour a month ago, they told us that EB is now available on Coopers because of a huge number of Dad's phoning the factory up (from the states mainly) and demanding it for their little daughters. Which just goes to prove its a girlie colour!

Wouldn't mind a DS Cooper personally...

I do understand that we all like our own colours best - variety is the spice of life

I am dirty because I have become aware that MINI is discounting cars by 4k+, throwing in extra equipment, and now making exclusive colours optional across the range. How nice is that And to add insult to injusry, the JCW kit which we were told would be about 6k is nearly ten!!

Hi,

I am also ****ed off, but I am not surprised. This kind of marketing is unfortunately pretty much standard for BMW. I know from bitter experience that they regularily upgrade models, adding options at no cost. They sell a new model at a premium with few options, and as sales slow they gradually add features for no or little cost to make it more attractive. For new buyers considering a purchase this is attractive. However, it has the side effect of ****ing off recent buyers, and has the side effect of undermining resale values.

However, whenever you buy a new car you are automatically losing money immediately anyway. Personally I have no intention of trading my mini any time soon.

Grrrr... I feel for all you EB MCS owners out there...

Even though BRG/W is still the best, I was going to use EB exclusivity as an excuse to get a MCS...not that i really need an excuse to get an MCS!

Where have I been for all these months?

Robbo,

It's behaviour like that by car companies that really ****es me off too...earlier adopters should be rewarded, not screwed over further down the model years...

I think the only people who benefit are those who buy late into the model runs, or those buying a second-hand car who squeeze everything they can get out of an early build seller...

To add further insult to injury, it seems like my car has been built to Kia standards and not BMW standards...just last week was my 8th visit to the service dept in just over 1 year! The thing feels like it is assembeled in some third-world country...

What hope do I have with my poverty spec early build cooper

I still love it though...how can I stay mad

Where have I been for all these months?

While I understand the need to vent now again

I always find it interesting how much people worry about resale Cars are not investments (with VERY few exceptions) and devalue generally at a fairly alarming rate I buy cars to enjoy and accept that I have to pay for the privilege ... where possible I write off as much as possible against tax (estimate about $16K next year ) ...

The release of EB on Cooper is annoying but at the end of the day you have an EB Cooper S ... which would you buy?
