Offline | Replacement Tyres - AUS Hi has anyone here had to buy new Tyres for their Cooper yet? If so what did you go for, how did they handle and how much? Cheers Brett Last edited by swamos : Sep 7th, 2003 at 02:13 AM. |

Offline | Yep. Got 17,000km out of my Dunlop SP Sport 200E's (175/65R15). Replaced them with Toyo Proxes H (I think), 195/60R15. The 175s are hard to get in Aus (very few to choose from & about $170 per tyre), but the 195s are plentiful, and cost me $130 per tyre (with twice the tread wear life too). There should be heaps to choose from, and any decent tyre dealer should be able to advise you regarding quietness, ride and all that stuff. If you want to have fun, try the Yokohama A032R. A 205/55R15 will fit on the factory 15 inch rims. Cost is around $300 per tyre, and I got just under 1000km out of my last set. Bloody noisy, but when you can take corners about 10km/h faster than road tyres you don't really care about those sorts of things. |

Offline | Thanks, big jump in price compared to my 1967 Cooper S Low profile Falken tyres fitted $80 each. Looks like I won't be doing any hard charging at the Qld Raceway .......There again Never say Never |

Offline | After 30,000 kms I've just replaced my Goodyear NCT 16" run-flats with ..........Goodyear NCT 16" run-flats. Got a good deal from a dealer - 4 as-new 5-spoke wheels fitted with almost new run-flats for $1000. So now I've got my track wheels and a full set of replacement treads. I'm happy. ![]() |

Offline | Has anyone replaced 17" tyres yet? One of my Pirelli runflats has a nail in the sidewall ![]() The dealer quoted $560 a tyre, and they are crappy tyres in terms of performance, so I'm planning on steering clear of the run flats and taking a punt with "normal" tyres - half the price and twice the grip. But if I get a flat, I'm screwed... ![]() |

| MINI2 Senior | I wouldn't worry too much about the flats. Just buy one of those puncture repair spray cans ($30-$50) and a cheap 12 volt pump from Supercheap (probably $20-$30). That's all the Coopers with 15"s have. I doubt I'll be paying $500+ for runflats if I can buy non runflats for half that. Last edited by AussieMini : Sep 6th, 2003 at 03:42 AM. |

| MINI Traitor | Ken Henry has yokohama ES100's (205/45/17) on. He's very happy with them to date, although maybe he can tell. I popped into Bob Jane today, and they will sell a set for $1100 fitted and balanced with nitrogen and a wheel alignment. I recon you might do better than that around the traps. ![]() More significantly, I talked with the guy about how the Euphori's are letting me down (being ripped to shreds), and he suggested that the es100 would probably last longer for what I am using my tyres for than the Pirellis (Even though the pirellis would probably last longer in "normal" road use). They have a very strong shoulder design. What's more I reckon they look like being a good compromise for the occasional track day, and grippy road use, without all the hassle and expense of buying another set of rims and cut slicks. You won't get quite the performance on the track, but we are only here for FUN ![]() Comments, please ![]() |

Offline | I am happy with the ES-100s. I was going to change back to the 16" 5 spokes and Goodyear run flats for the Queensland Raceway track day on the 20th, despite their lack of grip, just so I didn't destroy the Yokees. However, I now realise that I was getting substantially more wear on the run flats, than I did on todays run, despite the increase in power and the harder driving style. The runflats will now be kept purely for the annual trip to the snow (Snow chains won't fit the 205/45 17s without rubbing on the suspension) All in all, the ES-100s seem to be a good all round performance tyre. Brett, maybe you can get them in 16s. |

| You are number 6 | They are quieter than the P3000s and only squeal when provoked. The difference in overall diameter is only 6.5mm which is less than the difference between the new P3000s and the same P3000s after 30,000Km. Have a look at the FAQ forum for some good info on Tyre sizes and diameters. ![]() |
