More Wheel Advice Needed - Aus only

I'm doing what many other MINI owners are doing at the moment and that is weighing up the options surrounding new tyres. Many of us don't really see the value in retaining run flats. So I am considering upgrading to an aftermarket 17 inch wheel and trye package that will cost only a little more than it would if I was to replace the 16" runflats at $350 each.

I can get either of the wheel styles below with Falken512 205/40/17 tyres for $1880 fitted.

What I need to know is what do you all think would be a fair asking price for my 16's?

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated as I know very little about tyres and wheels.

Jase,

If you can wait till after the 20th, I can give the good oil on how the Yokahama ES-100s go at Queensland Raceway.

They actually had less wear on Saturday's Mount G run then the run flats.

Cheers thanks Ken, I got your e-mail too, I'll start trawling when I get a chance.

Anyone care to give me a price they fell I could reasonably ask for my 16's with as I've said "minimal tread" when and if I sell them they'll be good for around 5000kms.

I was thinking $800. Does this seem fair?

Opinions please.

Hey Jase, Just a word of warning on aftermarket wheels... .alot claim they are the right offset but most will cause a rubbing on the rear of the car. Ensure the Manufacturer of the wheel is going to garentee the fitment to the mini. I see you are choosing to put 205/40/17 which will throw your speedo out about 8% With the right fitment you will be able to fit 215/40/17's as they are the same rolling circumference to the factory 205/45/17 run flats. Also... be carefull about ANZ wheels they are very heavy. ( will make the car sluggish and cause the car to be very jittery around corners and slow you down.

Hey thanks CanberraCooperS, I must admit I'm very cautious about doing the whole aftermarket wheel thing. I may just put new tyres on my 16's. Will droping to a 50 profile such as the Yokohama ES100 205/50/16 affect my speedo? (as I said I know nothing about tyres) I may also try and buy a set of secondhand 17's from the dealer or another owner. Did you sell yours? Can I ask how much?
