I absolutely love how dry those notices are. They describe the mechanical consequence of a action. What they don't say is that "The vehicle will veer uncontrollably to the side and most probably meet a tree, in which case we'll deny all knowledge......."

The way some MINI drivers swerve all over the place you'd think they had the fault all the time

Hi,

I had my car in to fix another problem 2 weeks ago, and they said there was a recall on my car. They repleaced the insulation inside the bonnet for me, not quite sure why as I wasn't too interested to ask and in a bit of a rush. However, I got back home and noticed that my bonnet is now a bit higher than it used to be, and the panel gaps worse, especially on the trailing edge (the edge closest to the windscreen)

So I'm going to go in and have it checked again soon....

I don't know if this is a problem for all Minis or just Coopers though...

Where have I been for all these months?

That recall only covered cars built during a ~2 month window (forgot the build dates it affected) that why you probably didn't get it, it wasn't ALL MINI's

Now I know I'm talking to myself as usual, but GET THE WHEELS ALIGNED by a suspension specialist. I bet that's why it feels different.

Before you drop your MINI into a suspension shop, ask them clearly if they have the specs from BMW. I waited at Pedder's for over an hour for BMW to give the specs to Pedder's and eventually left. Got it done at the dealer.

Good point Eltel.

The only problem with that is that the dealers are notorious at not telling you if there are any problems. Say one side of the car has more castor than the other, they are hardly likely to speak up and recommend that you should get a camber adjustment kit out of MINI. They rarely tell you what the actual setting were.

In my case they left the rear bolts loose, which if I'd waited till the first service to get an alignment would have destoryed the rear tyres or worse. I don't trust my dealer enough to find the problem and voluntarily replace tyres or suspension components.

The last alignment I had done by the dealer they didn't even tell me what the alignment was. I asked, and they just said it was fine, and then went into this spiel about how two wheel alignments are never the same, and each time they fit the machine they will get a different readine..... That will be the first of 4 alignments that my car has had in its short 17k life where they have been vaguely even close to lined up. Funny, repeatability isn't a problem for our Japanese car

One of my rear wheels has more camber than the other side. I intend to ask for it to be fixed before the warranty expiration. I can prove to them that the car has been like it since new. Can you?
