| MIN-118 | Hey eric... u should ask the master... ME about this question hehee... i went to SOOOOOOOO much trouble finding a solution to put the ipod I bought into my car... SOOOOOOOO much trouble! Guess what? I had to sell the ipod cos I couldnt be bothered to do it! You can buy the part from BMW australia, but not soo sure... someone said you can... ask Neeshil... or do a search for ipod and you will find loads of ppl with the same problem. Are you sure you have the aux port? Even my car doesnt... mine was built Aug02, someone said the car has to be sep02 onwards... and you've had ur car longer than me. Maybe you should double check... cos I bought the ipod first and I got rocked... hard. ![]() I think the part, from memory is quite expensive... overseas in america its cheap... and i think its not a MINI part but a BMW 318 part... that fits the head unit. I think it costs around 225 to get it shipped as well. Which is why I thought its much better off getting a head unit with aux... but then its pointless. ai I was so confused. If you ask bkwalker hes got an ipod... He did a conversion thingy still costs like 200 or something close. Good luck! CALL me out for a drive u live like 5min walk away! |

Offline | hey pinkmini, just got my ipod hooked up yesterday. i bought the blitzsafe off FLIPSIDE, so it was cheaper then 200.. but it is a 2 minute job to get the ipod hooked up!! the blitz plugs into the cd changer wires at the back.. (easy took 5 seconds) you then plug some RCA wires into that and then they plug into your ipod... you press mode on your cd changer and then your ipod works!! i love it! i just took the wiring under the back seats and under the floor mats.. the wiring i then put under the centre console by pushing it in with a screw driver and it comes out where the cup holders are! the wires cost me about $20 and blitz is 99US dollars plus 14.50 for shipping from rspeed.net ... if you can buy a 2nd hand blitz then do it.. will save u lots.. all up it cost me a little over 100 to get it working benno |

| MINI Traitor | PM, It's a trap for young players that. MINI were stuck with a lot of 02 stock that they couldn't sell last year, so they ended up quiting it this year at reduced prices. I hope you got a deal ![]() I am even aware of a dealer in Brisbane that still has a number of 02 stock MINI's (including S) that they haven't managed to sell. They usually put them on as demos and then discount them (sometimes heavily) to move them on. They typically left them on the wharf till they were ready to sell, that way the cars got 03 compliance plates. I am aware of cars older than ours (June 02 build) getting 03 plates. I even heard of one salesperson telling a couple that their car was stuck in customs from August till March this year ROTFL ![]() As to what you can do?? I'm afraid you may just have to add yourself to the list of people that have been burnt by car salesmen at some point in their life. I'm sure that pretty much anyone that has ever bought a car is on there, so don't worry - you're in good company ![]() I thought that people who sold a BMW brand - MINI would be more honourable than the scum who sell other more pedestrian brands. Unfortunately it turns out that many (not all though) are just the same ![]() |

Offline | Yeah I got burnt by my dealer.. I picked up my car in May 03 and got an Aug 02 build ![]() I had a skitz at them and told them they were misleading (particularly because numerous times at pickup and order I explained to them why i liked the new 03 model - particularly the new stereo with AUX input) I kept on with them telling them how they misrepresented the sale etc.. They ended up replacing my stereo with an 03 model. As for Aux Input. I went to **** smith and purchased a headphone plug ($2.50) I got a CD-Rom Audio cable (from a PC - connects CD-Rom to sound card for audio). I then soldered them together, removed my head unit and plugged it in. Total cost: $2.50 Time: 1 hr (amateur at pulling apart a car) Result: Awesome!! Got an Ipod in my car. Shows up AUX on stereo when using it. Note: There is no soldering to the car. Only soldering is between the CD-rom audio cable and the headphone socket from **** Smith (which plugs into the Ipod) I will do a search for my previous posting that has more details on the installation. | MINI2 Senior | very great write up neeshil i think i do have the newer headunit since when i check it using the method u state in the other post, mine comes up with the SV xxxx 50 which is meant to be the ones with AUX input right? i guess i will try to do the cable myself since it seems to be very easy to make. now the hard thing for me is taking out the headunit itself. also 1 more question. where excatly did your cable come out from? as i can't excatly tell from the picture on your website........ thanks alot ![]() 05 PW/B chilli. finally here. |

Offline | No worries. If you check my site again I have uploaded two more photos which give a better idea of where the cable comes out. The one 'limitation' of this cable is you can not charge the ipod (using a cigarette lighter charger) at the same time as it is connected to the audio cable. For that you need a ground loop isolator (i think) More details on that are in the ICE section, but I didn't understand it so I didn't bother. Yeah the head unit isn't too hard to take out. I can't remember all the details for the SVxxx50 thing. I think as long as it is 50 or 51 it should be fine. Checkout the ICE section though. Good luck! Neeshil |
