Offline | ADR Compliant Takami Seats in my CooperS I fitted some new seats on the weekend... Close to direct bolt in just used 50mm box section to raise to right height. and elongated the rail holes on the rails by 2mm each hole to fit directly into the car. ADR(Australian Design Rule) approved seats that look and function well. The change is phenominal they are great! Last edited by swamos : Oct 4th, 2003 at 04:30 AM. |

Offline | Hi , just thought I will let you know that your airbags are now NOT ACTIVE as there are no sensors in your new seats to tell the cars CPU that your car has a driver. That was the main reason why Im waiting to see if the JCW seats that are coming out next month have the wiring.Must admit they look FANTASTIC ![]() |

Offline | actually the sensor to tell the car that someone is in the seat is in the seat belt catch. The only airbags you'd lose changing seats are the seat airbags themselves. however the dash light will always be on because of the missing bags unless it gets reprogrammed. |

Offline | Yes all the airbags that still exist in the car are still active as you can buy from BMW the blanking plugs which have the specific 4ohm resistance required to complete the Airbag Circuit. The old seats dont have sensors either. They are just a deployment device for the inbuilt airbags. The detection device is built into the seatbelt unit which i have unbolted from the factory seat. I have re-attatched this to the new seats. Have had the car inspected by the Canberra dealership to ensure the airbag system and seatbelt tensioners are still working. ( they are) By the way the JCW seats are likely to be around $1500 each. These seats where $800 for the pair through JRacing in Canberra. You can get them in leather and various colours. They are a replica of a Recaro seat and have full ADR compliance. If you want to contact the Importer directly to find out your local supplier call Marinko on 0403538447 Company name is Takami Speed |

Offline | will be i had to delay the Pulley and ECU due to other commitments. will hopefully if plans go well fit them both next week and post some dyno figures for you all. I have it all sitting in the garrage.. just need time to fit it. I will also have step by step instructions and pics showing how to fit the oil cooler.. funny actually its a brandnew, old Mini Cooper S oil cooler that i used. Physically the same part you can buy from race shops who charge $500 for it but from a Old Mini Dealer i picked this one up brand new for $125 |

Offline | based on the manufactures claims and the few little extras like the intercooler spray and oil cooler i think it might be closer to 220hp or 165kws either way thats a nice level and should not cause to many dramas! I HOPE!!! |

Offline | Hi, Yeah! Those seats are very tasty. I bet they are also very light Like Trelo I am waiting to see the cost of the JCW seats. You estimate around $1500. That would surprise me, and I think it will be more. Robbo |

Offline | I just dont see the Value in the JCW seats. There only Momo seats... with extra stitching saying JCW on them. 3k for seat... damm i would only pay that for fixed back Sparco Racing seats that are made of carbon fibre and weight 1.5kgs. These seem practical to me and they are easy to fit and wont cost you the earth |

Offline | Hi, I completely agree that the JCW seats are probably going to be completely over the top price wise. However, seats are a low priority and I am waiting to see the price before I fit something else. I live in hope they may be reasonably priced, eg $600 each. However, knowing BMW they will be well over $1500! How much do your seats weigh? I would imagine the JCW seats would be quite heavy, due to the airbags. Robbo |

Offline | factory seats with the factory rails weigh in at 32kgs and the new ones are about 10kgs with the rails... so im saving a good 40kgs in the middle of the car... good place to loose some weight |

Offline | No they dont have the same mechanism... but as you can see from the price you get what you pay for. They still fold forward and slid so you can get in the back as easily. I dont use the back seat at all as I have harnises in the car so i dont need the tilt |

Offline | Spken to BMW Sydney , they told me the JCW seats will arrive next month and will be around the $3000 - $4000 mark EACH . I suppose this is due to the airbags , but I still want confidence just incase I get side impact. |
