Brisbane BMW Run Sunday?????

Whats this Brisbane BMW run on sunday I hear of?

Supposedly 60 Mini owners are going on a drive organised by Brisbane BMW, fully catered for etc..

Is it too late to sign up? How did they select which people were invited?

It is to late to sign up for the run It was only for people who got their MINI's from the Valley... Isn't that where u got yours??

I think they limited it to 30 cars. They are talking about having more runs for people who missed out.

Neeshil.

I got mine from Bris Mini Garage too. It was apparently based on date of purchase. I missed out on the original list, but rang about 6 weeks ago and picked up one of the places that was not filled.

It is 60 people -30 MINIs. Driver and navigator.

Hope you can make the list next time.

Well the day turned out to be quite good. Great food, a lot of good laughs. Twelve clubMINI members were among 60 people who made the trek from Brisbane up to Mt Mee then back again with a few fun stops on the way which included a Cooper S that threw a supercharger pulley (an aftermarket one) and cooked the engine.

About the only negative thing all day was a couple of knucklehead MINI owners (not members of clubMINI) who were overtaking up to six cars at once on double white lines, blind corners and sometimes with only seconds to spare before nearly being wiped out by oncoming traffic. At one point they ran a poor older couple in a 4x4 off the road. We certainly don't want those ******s as members of our club and with me going to plenty of meaty jobs with Ambulance, I know where they'll end up. The only problem is though they'll probably take a young family or some other innocent person with them.

But all in all, a great day, good food and fun people.

Yeh, don't know why it happens. Sure when clubMINI goes on a run we drive at a good pace yet not excessively over the speed limit and certainly never overtake the way it was being done today.

As for the pulley incident, I didn't get any shots yet there was a bit of smoke and a lot of coolant spraying out of the overflow bottle.

Strange thing - I hardly saw a MINI all day, except at the start, the loo break and the finish. The only thing I passed all day was that stupid tin shed I never found. (Read: wife said tin shed on Somerset Dam.) Took every single turn off to every single picnic ground on the dam. Ended up doing 47 km more than most of you guys. Probably lucky, if there were idiots out there on the road.

I agree though. If you know who they are - keep 'em out of the club.

And finally, a special thanks to Brisbane BMW for organising such a good day out.

Byron...

Hi Guys

Don't get to excited about Byron, some people would rather drive down the M1 and eat a sausage... So it looks like the Byron run will not happen till early next year.

If you want to do a pre run trip to Byron e-mail me. I'll be doing it again soon, I had so much fun last time I forgot to take notes Be warned though it's 500 klm of full on fun!

Good to see that a good day was had. I wonder if a new engine cost more or less than $9600. Looks like the JCW does have some value

I suppose at the end of the day it does Snoopy.

Hey, by the way, when I was dropping the young lad with a blown engine off at Mt Glorious you drove past me with a couple of Coopers in front of you. How could you miss the big yellow bus???

By the way, what's happening with this southern run? Has Steve spoken to Bruce Lynton and given any details to you? We need to get onto this so we can post details on our site.

The run yesterday was good, but nowhere near as professional as ours. There was one unscheduled stop at Sommerset and that was it, so the day wasn't as social as it could have been. The driving manners of a few owners was appaling. I think most people had a great time and we should get a few as members, though there are at least two who I don't think we want to know about.

02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW.

Yep it was me, I was out doing some testing, before heading of to work. That's why I did not stop and say hi. How was the young man holding up after his superchager problems? Also did he say who did if your him?
