Hi,
The NSW BMW club is having a driver skills / track day at Wakefield Park (Goulburn) on Sunday 16/11.
For anybody who is interested in experiencing the sensational handling performance of the mini in a safe and legal environment, this is a perfect opportunity.
This meeting is an "end of year" event for the BMW club, and is a little different from normal trackdays.
The morning is a skills session. This will most likely involve slaloms between witches hats, timed performance tests, precision driving tests, hillclimb etc. This is the minis forte, and I am looking forward to seeing the mini vs the bigger heavier cars!
The afternoon is a track session. The wakefield circuit suits the mini as it is tight, and relatively low speed. It is also very safe, with wide runoff areas. Also in car instructors are available for beginners.
A CAMS licence is not required as a Wakefield Park yearly permit can be purchased for $30. However, if you are participating in the track session there are some safety requirements for your car.
I will be going, and it would be great to see some more minis! The BMW club is very friendly, and not at all snobbish. Even if you have never been on the track before you will not feel out of place, as the cars range from full on race cars down to classic cars that circulate at a leisurely pace, and all cars are grouped with cars of equal ability.
If you are interested in these events, but not ready to participate, it would be great to see you come along to have a look.
If anyone is interested you can find more details on the website at
