Offline | Who here is planning on doing the trading-post GP rally 2004? I havent really done anything like this before but think it should be good fun...No need for a roll cage to be installed which is good and the chance to hoon around. One of the guys I work with (Dave Stevens) has done some racing this year and suggested I give it a crack. Any input/suggestions? I would really like to hear from someone who has done this before to get an insiders viewpoint. |

Offline | If you can afford the entry fee you should do it. More like a really serious form of the Mini Tas tour! Just have to remember that during the special tests your insurance isn't valid (although your compulsory 3rd party should be), so you bend it, you fix it. And depending on how you approach your dealer they may either get really annoyed with you, or if they are helpful, might be able to strike up a deal for any breakages during the event (and after) which may have otherwise been covered under warranty. It's important to understand what you're getting yourself in for. In the recent Classic Adelaide Rally there was a 2 month old Ferrari F360. Rumor has it that an individual went out to the event just to take photos to send back to their dealer and have their warranty voided. More of a risk in a high profile event where your name is on a list prior to the start, as opposed to occasional track days where you'd be unlucky to bump into someone. Having said that, these events are a ball. Best holiday money can buy (well in my opinion anyway!) ![]() Feb 02 R50 |

Offline | dsakko thanks for the info, the extent of my driving has been the odd track day and my CAMS license. Hope I am not going to be too far out fo my depth, any idea on how much this thing will cost, not counting my bending stuff of course ![]() |

Offline | Entry fee is $3,410. You'll also need to probably budget for accommodation, fuel, and other various expenses. So it can add up to a bit. Never had the pleasure of competing in one of these events, but I've officiated at alot of rallies etc, and it really is a big buzz. ![]() Feb 02 R50 |
