if snoopy misses this thread, send him a PM - he should be able to help you with some info on this. From what he's told me, it's not exactly an easy thing to do.

Be very careful if your thinking of changing any safety related items on your car as insurance co s dont look to kindly at this. If you were to bend the car ITS one reason not to pay you !

Hello, arh my pet subject ADR 18.

Well here is the story at the moment. MINI Australia WILL NOT SELL you the parts needed to do this change NOR WILL THEY help you in any way becuse it makes the MINI non compliant with ADR18. Even if the did sell you the parts, hope you have deep pockets as the parts cost about $3000.

I have got some good paper weights tho.

I saw a video with a MINI which had a navigation display in the middle... both the speed and tacho were behind the steering wheel! I like that a lot better than having to look for far for the tacho.

like this? I agree - it's a much better setup. Not a cheap option though...

Give me time I will have this option worked out too.

IML337 have you priced up that "other option" yet?

I'll be at the dealer in a week or so, so will ask more then, but a rough estimate for the module was $2500, so the overseas option would have to be the way to go. I must contact that company and ask them about mounting. Buying the brackets locally couldn't cost much, surely?

You could mount it rought as guts (ie a back yard mounting system) or buy the MINI one, but that will cost a bit. IMO it is worth it, as look at the cost of the module you are trying to keep in place. Also have you though of going to a wreaker and seeing how much they are selling the module for? (it is the same one they use in any old BMW)

There is a BMW wrecker in Sydney that I know of, but am yet to contact. I reckon the overseas model would be about the same price as a wrecker anyway, and it is new and comes with all the bits and wiring and aerial as well... I have other mods alerady on order, so TV will come after those

Why don't you check the wreakers in NZ, surely there has been a Mini that has been written off while the owner got distracted by some sheep Grab the speedo, rev, and it's black box. Surely that would work.

Centre speedo is they only way to go. My Cooper S has it and it is so easy to see while driving around

arh all is not that simple, the car is very complex and the center tacho/speedo is a very important part of this system.

I must say that the center speedo does require a bit more effort to read, so I have been told by those luck enough to drive a early display only MINI around a car park.

Brett if you know a wreaked MINI in NZ I loved to know as there are some parts that I want. Also is your Cooper S speedo is it in MPH or km/h?
