Offline | online shopping for parts Hi all, just wondering if anyone in aus has used companies such as minimania in the us to get things like one click units or pulleys sent here. our dollar is excellent vs USD so its better to go to US sites rather than UK ones i think. did you get slugged with import duty or other nasties? Im basicly after 2 or 3 peice stainless stell pulley with or withour belt but would like to continue shopping online for other parts in future |

Offline | two problems here, one the USA dealer shold not sell outside their market, I think I have all ready read where they have pointed people to the Oz supplier, so they might not sell you the parts once they know Oz is your location. Import duty and other taxes total 35% and you might get stung by this. I would always advise you take worst case and add it in incase you do have to pay it, then your cheap part can be quite dear. It is a a low risk but with computers and electronic lodgement of con note and duty statements. It is only time before the Customs find you. ![]() |

Offline | Go for it, I order a fair amount of car parts from OS and have had no problems so far that hasn't been sorted within a couple of phone calls. Only thing to remember is the retailer is quite a distance for any returns or support. Try and keep any one purchase under the $1000 AU limit as it seems theres less paperwork and hassle with items valued less than this. With duty/GST payable its hit and miss, sometimes you'll get stung other times they'll deliver direct with nothing owing, it helps with this if you are available when the courier rocks up so a business delivery address is good, otherwise it goes back to the post office and then you'll definately have to pay - note: if picking up from the post office you can't pay by credit card for customs duty and its up to the postal managers discretion as to whether they'll accept payment by cheque (my local guy is a real Nazi with this). UPS or the like will accept card payments for customs duty. 2003 MCS |

Offline | I've ordered some stuff from minimania in the states, they were fantastic. They reply promptly to e-mails and keep you updated with the progress of your order. I've only ordered physically small items and have never had any problems with customs. |
