Offline | Queensland Raceway Sprints 28 Feb 2004 The monthly Queensland Raceway Saturday Afternoon Sprints are on again this Saturday. The cost structure has changed substantially this year. Sprint entry fee is now $75, if paid on the day (or $65, if pre-paid). This entitles you to 2 sets of 5 lap sprints (plus warm up and warm down lap), and time permitting a third set. However, so far, there always has been time for the third, if you and your car are up to it. There is no option of a single set available this year. A pre-paid form is available, if you want to save the 10 bucks, just ring QR on 5461 9111 and asked them to fax you one or PM me with your email address and I will email one. If you don't already have a AAA license or a QR license, it will cost you a further $55, but the license will last you 12 months. You will need a helmet, if you don't the track will provide you one, but you will need to purchase a cotton balaclava for your head for $5. They are predicting 33 degrees for Satrday, which will be a nice change from the last couple of months, but you should probably consider a hat, sunglasses, sun cream etc. There is a canteen for some food and drink as well. Usual meeting place is McDonalds at Goodna at 10.30am in the morning and trundle out en masse. For any first timers, who are not sure if they want to put their cars on the track, feel free to ask, or check out the Queensland Raceway website www.queenslandraceway.com.au Even if you don't want to drive on the track or don't know if you want to, come along and have look. We have managed to get seven MINI's on the track at the same time, so the more the merrier. BTW, if you think you'll come out for a drive or a look - let me know. Offline | Looks like it's just Rob and me. So there will be no McDonalds at Goodna at 10.30, as I'll be heading out early to ensure a covered pit area. If anyone else decides to come along and needs directions, call me on 0402 797954. Ken |

Offline | Don't know what's happened to all the MINI sprinters, but you missed a great day. Only the 2 of us - Evil Mini and I were Group 1 this month - first on the track after the V8 Supercar Experience guys put down 600-odd laps of rubber for us. First on, means first off - 3 sets of laps all finished by 4pm, making it an early day. Both Pete and I had the immeasurable pleasure of smoking HSV's finest - current model GTO and Maloo, amongst others. Hopefully, see some of you next month. |
