BMW driver training in minis

Hi,

The other day I had one of my other cars in for service at the BMW dealer. While I was sitting around in the lounge waiting for them to get the bill ready ( ) my friendly mini dealer came over for a chat. He showed me some of the planned mini promotional material for the next few months. There was some interesting stuff, eg Monte Carlo Ralleye, JCW wheels and seats etc. However, something that really caught my eye was the fact that they are launching a mini version of the BMW driver training program

I have done several BMW driver training programs in the M3 and they were excellent I look forward to seeing the mini program. Hopefully it will be in JCW cars

Maybe we should ask for a discount and group booking for mini2 members ?

Robbo

You can count me in for one, if they extend the program to BMWs SE Queensland training centre.

I've been bugging them about this for 6 months.

Thanks for the info Robbo.

Sounds interesting, Brad, you might prick up your ears on this one, given that we have been working on trying to get this off the ground for a little while now.

A representative of my dealer told a room of MINI owners about this a couple of weeks back. The price is apparently going to be $900.00

Haven't priced other driver training programs to see if that price is really as exorbitant as it looks.

I'll do it - especially if it constitutes the "Level 1" program to allow me to go and drive M3's around Eastern Creek all day

Robbo - I saw you on Windsor Rd this morning too

Good to see its finally going to happen, i was driving past eastern creek June last year and saw a few minis buzzing round the track and pulled into have a look. It was a BMW driver training day for BMW staff all in Mini's and was tolld the days would be available to the public quite soon...I'd definitely be interested cause im not the best driver

oh and heres some pics i got on my crap camera way back when

Hi Flipside,

Thanks for the good spy work.

I notice that they had minis and M3's at the track on the same day

If we get a mini2 BMW driver training day I think we should try and get minis in the morning, to learn how to handle a FWD car, followed by M3's in the afternoon for comparison with a high power RWD car Unfortunately, I don't think we'll get away with it

Unfortunately, at $900 it might be a little too rich for me. If it was $400/500 I might have considered it. Particularly when I can do the same thing for $150 in mi MINI (be it without Geoff Brabham).

Robbo,
That would be a top idea, both for the sake of comparison and because they are both great cars to drive!

Given that there are rumors around that the price will be around $900, perhaps that is what might happen? Surely they wouldn't charge $900 for just the Mini, as they only charge $595 (I think from memory?) for the 325i. When I did the Advanced 2 course last year, $995 bought half a day in the 325i and half in the M3, although I'm sure we used the M3 more than the 325! So methinks they might do a half/half thing for the Mini ones as well..well at least I hope so!

Where have I been for all these months?
