I would be surprised if BMW threw this in for free, when they offer ASC as the 'base option' ... if they do then lucky you and not so lucky for the rest of us Either way definately recommend the option ... DSC is definately worth having on Sydney roads ... saved me at least once dodging some clueless idiot in a truck and trailer unit who decided bigger means right of way

They are adding more and more things to the standard list rather than reducing the price. I think this is a fantastic way of doing things... I *just* managed to get shifter paddles on my CVT because I cancelled my older order and waited for the next build. I think when I turn 25, I'll upgrade to a Cooper S :P hopefully by then more things will be standard.

| Hi, That is standard BMW practice. When a car is first released and in high demand you have to pay for every option. As the demand slows, and the model ages, they add more and more of the extras for free. This process really accelerates at the end of the models life. Sometimes, when the options are too pricey to give away free they throw a few together as a special package, at greatly reduced price, eg they might come up with a "sports" package for the cooper, including sports suspension, 17 alloys, bonnet stripes, limited edition colour and leather seats, and offer it for $2000 or something like that. As a matter of fact, the upcoming Monte Carlo Ralleye edition is probably one of those special deals Unfortunately, as Swamos stated, this is bad for resale values. | If it's any consolation resale on Golfs is plumetting by the day. This is not helped when an Aussie Vortexer does a deal for a NEW GTI with a drive away price of 34K!!! |

don't mean to add to anyone's anguish over resale values, but i got my 2nd-hand MCS (with all the options in my sig) for low-$30ks... maybe I just got extremely lucky?!? i hope my case is the exception, and not the rule, cos i still want to trade mine in for a custom-build MCS in the near future. tt EB/W MCS Big Fat Cheesy Grin

No matter which way you look at it, sounds like you got a good deal Although, not all that far outside of the redbook parameters for that vehicle. How good a deal depends on condition, options, mileage etc (as has already been said). ![]() It says there that the average k's is 40-50. I'm predicting our car might not even make that range at 5 years old

hey minigolf, mine is a 2002, and had 24000kms on it when i bought it privately in v good nick. the guys are right - options may help to sell an MCS, but may not necessarily hold the resale value up. tt EB/W MCS Big Fat Cheesy Grin
