Question Prices on Steptronic Coopers?

Hi everyone, new to the forum, so bear with me.

My gf is thinking about a new car, and I'm almost done persuading her to get a Mini Cooper (she can't drive manual)

Anyway, we're about to go shopping around for the best deal. Can anyone recommend a dealer/salesperson in particular to talk to. What sort of discounts and freebies were you getting, for those with Coopers? What prices am I expected to pay, for a CR/W steptronic Cooper (no options )

Also, I've read about probs with the MCS' on the forum, but just wondering whether any of you with Aussie spec Coopers have had any specific probs?

Anyway, thanks in advance!
Jules

Jules,

Firstly, all MINI dealers are pretty good There are even a couple that check these boards.

If you can tell us where you're located people might be able to talk about their experiences with local dealers.

As to issues with MINI's they are all usually pretty good. However the MINI being a totally new car it's best to get the most recent one you can afford. I would suggest checking the faults and fixes and CVT forums.

Good hunting

Can't believe I forgot! Oops! I'm in Sydney, North Side! Thanks for the reply Lots of reading out there in the CVT forums etc.

I presume there's a Mini delaer at each BMW place. Guess I'll be looking into Alto Artarmon, Alto Pennant Hills, Col Crawford, BMW Sydney, Autohaus MINI, and the ones down South....Sylvania?

Hey Jules - do I know you?

I bought mine at Classic MINI in Parramatta (at Autohaus BMW) from a guy named Scott Uden, and he was fantastic to deal with. He's since moved to Alto in Pennant Hills, but am unsure if he's selling MINIs there, or doing something else, but if he's selling MINIs, talk to him - he's fantastic to deal with (and would remember who I am too). Good luck!

Cheers,
Tim

Thumbs up

Hi Jules,

I had my CVT since Aug 02. The car has not missed a beat and the CVT can be a lot of fun when you get a handle on the step mode. I have had one software upgrade and found the car to be a lot smarter of the mark. Must say that I got a great deal from BMW Sydney and have had 1st class service all the way.

Have fun man, hope to see you of one of our run days. CVT's Rock! and I brought mine for the same reason so that my girlfriend and family could all enjoy the car.

Happy motoring.

Coop's.

Coop's can report that Jules has secured a CR/W CVT Cooper, from memory, I think he gets it in about 3 or 4 weeks???

Cool, we will have to take him for a Pie in the Sky run to break it in.

See you on the next run day.
