Offline | Arrived home today to find an invitation to MINI Driver Training to be held in NSW on 27th May and in Victoria on 31st May. Only 16 places are open per session and the vehicles will include a Cooper, Cooper S and JCW Cooper S with the inference that other BMW vehicles will also be used. Email drivertraining@mini.com.au or call 1800 000 269 to register your interest ![]() The course includes hospitality and is offered at the special price of $395 Last edited by warped : Apr 8th, 2004 at 09:59 AM. |

Offline | Hi, The price is much cheaper than the BMW driver training courses However, a cursory glance at the brochure indicates that it includes things such as seating position, braking, ABS, understeer control etc . However, no mention of circuit driving, which is an element of BMW driver training days. Therefore it may be that the days are skid pan only, rather than on a full circuit. If anyone has a chance I would recommend they do one of the BMW (or mini) driver training days. The instruction is excellent, and definitely improves your skills and safety ![]() Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |

Offline | I wonder if there are multiple "sessions" for NSW and how long each session is? They only posted one date for NSW and I can't imagine them fitting everyone in. |

Offline | The flyer only talks about the one session I think that they are testing the water, if they get positive feedback then I suspect more courses will be scheduled Needless to say I couldn't email them quick enough ... I would be lying if I said I emailed them AFTER posting on MINI2 ![]() |

Offline | The word is BMW are very serious about having MINI Driver Training as a regular part of the overall BMW/MINI Driver Training Program which will be consistantly touring the Eastern States. I believe the official launch is in Queensland prior their first open to the public day in NSW on the 27th. |

| MINI2 Senior | While it looks like fun, $395 is not all that cheap. For those seeking a more comprehensive driver training session in your own car (which is always best because all cars handle differently even though they are the same model) you can undertake a whole day of driver training as a club for no more than $200 each at the same time augmenting one's membership. clubMINI went in halves with the BMW Club of Q with a driver training day a few weeks ago which had the full driver training list events including circut, skidpan, ABS and non ABS braking, steering under brakes, steering in the wet and racing like idiots around witch's hats (which SWAMOS knocked over like ten pins ). This included morning tea and lunch for $150 each. The best part of the day was of course the skidpan which we've booked a four hour session for 12 people in May for $87.50 with dinner and three driving instructors. Can't wait!!! As a car club driver training is a staple diet of events and always a good laugh at the same time. ![]() Last edited by AussieMini : Apr 8th, 2004 at 05:35 PM. |

| MINI2 Senior | while 400dollars aint all that cheap, it isnt too expensive either given they are giving u a car to drive, which means u won't have to worry about ruining ur own tires and brakes which also costs money to replace as well. (does that mean they will have runflats on those mini???? if it does thats a shame then)also as robbo said, if its skidpan only, i would rather save money on the BMW Driving training or seek for something else..... finally 1 question, do they allow us to go track days given if my driving licence is suspended???? (licence suspend for 3months starting on 8th april means catching a train........ and no mini for me )05 PW/B chilli. finally here. |

Offline | Having attended Geoff Brabahm's BMW Driver Training Schools I can assure you that skid pan is only part of the training. The day is fully catered, includes classroom, track work (plenty of laps under instruction), skid pan, slalom, radio comms in all cars, debriefings on all sessions and is well worth the $395.00. This course in the BMW's is normally around $900. |
