The competition that never was

I had a call from MINI today and this competition is not for Australia and the web site is being updated. Another success story from mini.com.au

Incidentally I checked on mini.com and they have the same Monte Carlo presentation but no mention of any competition.

Where is the Monte Carlo going to be a 'buyable' option - isnt it only for the American 'limited edition' crazy market anyway?

nope, there are 40 of them coming here - there was an article on drive.com.au the other day.

they're 42,990 with xenons, stripes, the BRG ones have the cordoba leather interior (nice!), not sure what the red ones have, and you get number keyring, and a monte carlo vest with them.

$42,990 AUD?? Its an S isnt it? Jesus - that makes it bloody cheap!?

Didnt know there was a BRG one

Im pretty sure the red ones have the black/red leather.

Not to mention they both have the carbon fibre interior trims (which id kill for) - and initial word is John Cooper should be offering this to its Cooper range by the end of the year - for something like 3000 bucks...

they don't have the CF trim inside, in fact they've got SFA that you can't option on a normal S, except for the numbered interior and the side stripes, although the Cordoba interior is pretty expensive from memory (as in 3k or so)

I really like the look of the side stripes actually, idlegear sells some similar ones that say 'supercharged' on them, I'm very tempted :-)

Are you sure about that MickyD?

Quote:
In the cabin, the dash panel is clad in genuine, lightweight carbon fiber and the seats wear striking red and black leather upholstery unique to this model. A special gauge package is mounted in the center console and indicates voltage and oil temperature. The shift knob features a 40th Anniversary Monte Carlo insignia and has a satin aluminum finish. The interior also features a thick leather wrapped, three-spoke sport wheel and all-weather rubber floor mats to protect the carpets from would-be rally drivers' shoes.

I suspect that you are looking at the US only model

There was a thread somewhere about the Australian model which is just a standard car dressed up a little in the same vein as the IJ cars.

But then again I could be wrong

the MC40 pack is us$7000 extra, so somehow I don't think it would only be $3k extra in australia
